Pretty interesting concept for a game, I think. Running a prison... some of the generally most dark and brutal places in human history.
"Prison Architect is a game about managing limited resources - about balancing security with rehabilitation, and pitting punishment against productivity. However, quite uniquely for a management sim, it's also about storytelling and emotion. "I actually think management sims and stories go well together," says Delay, "and we really wanted to have some stories about interesting prisoners to bring people into the game. I mean, prisoners are fascinating characters, and prisons are such a rich area of story."
"The aim is to make the player feel invested in a different way to previous Introversion titles. Constructing an execution chamber, and leading a troubled and regretful man towards his fate within it, left me with a pang of emotion that's so rare in our medium: guilt."
Seems pretty neat, tho its unclear if you'll be only managing premade prison floorplans, or actually be able to design one of your own from the ground up.

If I remember correctly, this idea is based on a game Introversion was working on before, which was a form of heist game where you planned robberies etc. Apparently they didn't like the gameplay of it and scrapped it pretty late in development, but from the ideas etc they made this game.
It looks very promising. |

It looks just like any generic modern "citysim" game to me, but maybe I'm too quick to judge it. |

With so much wanton death and destruction in games, it seems pretty refreshing to actually feel guilt over one little guy.
I hope in the final state of the game that you can design/construct the entire prison from the ground up... that'd be a very interesting view into people's psyche. |

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but it seemed more reasonable than to create a duplicate topic on the same subject.
The game is open for purchase now as we speak! The game itself is still in alpha, meaning that the purchases are meant to support the developer, and you will be receiving all the future content and patches as they are released (just like Minecraft and others). Theres actually a bunch of different purchase bundles, and by spending a bit more cash on the game, you can get yourself included in the prison lol.
The game itself is obviously still buggy, hence the ongoing development. If your a fan of Introversion games or sim / building games, I heartily suggest you give this one a go.

| hmmm the game does look a lot of fun, but $30 for the basic package just seems too much, I'll have a look into more in the coming months though, $30 is justifiable with a good amount of content, just not sure how much content it could actually have. |
