Event Format:+ Show Spoiler + 1. There will be 3 Open Online Qualifiers in the Summer Season (Europe, Korea/Taiwan, and North America). 2. Players finishing in the top 8 in each Summer Open Online Qualifier will be invited to participate in the same region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier. 3. The Summer Open Online Qualifiers will each support as many as 128 Players. 4. The Summer Open Online Qualifier Brackets will be separated into a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket. After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter a Losers Bracket. A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event.
Match Format 1. All Matches will be Best of 3 Games unless the Players have already played each other in their Summer Open Online Qualifier. 2. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in a Summer Open Online Qualifier, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
Seeding 1. Players will be seeded based on the following criteria in this order: Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings, Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings, and MLG Rank. If Spring Online Qualifier Consolation Matches were played, they may be used to break ties. Ties may also be broken using the next available criteria or randomly. Players who failed to finish in the top 32 of a Spring Open Online Qualifier, didn’t participate in a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier, and have no MLG Rank will be seeded randomly. 2. The Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings separate Players as follows: 9th Place, 13th Place, 17th Place, and 25th Place. Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings will only be used to seed Players who failed to qualify for a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier. 3. The performance of Players finishing in the top 8 in each Summer Open Online Qualifier will be used to determine their seed in their region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier. The performance of Players finishing 9th-32nd in each Summer Open Online Qualifier will be used to determine their seed in the Summer Championship Starcraft 2 Event.
Registration 1. Players may not participate in more than one Summer Open Online Qualifier. 2. Registration for the Summer Open Online Qualifiers will open at 7 PM EDT on Monday, June 18th. 3. Online Registration for each Summer Open Online Qualifier will close 24 hours prior to the start of the Open Online Qualifier. 4. Summer Open Online Qualifier Player Passes will be sold in the MLG Store (http://store.majorleaguegaming.com/) for $10. 5. After obtaining a Player Pass, all Players must use Team Builder (http://team-builder.majorleaguegaming.com/) in order to complete their Registration, including accepting the 2012 Pro Circuit Official Rules. Players must also join the appropriate Tournament in SC2 Battles (https://sc2.majorleaguegaming.com/). 6. Unused Player Passes may not be kept as a Credit and later used in the purchase of a future Event Pass. 7. If a Player who finishes in the Top 8 of a Summer Open Online Qualifier is unable to participate in their Region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier, an alternate Player will not be selected to take their place.

Players who quit out of a Game and claim that the wrong Settings were used will Forfeit the Game if they are unable to provide proof to back up their claim. 11. Players found to have chatted excessively during a Game will be given a Foul. Language used in in-game chat will be governed by the Pro Circuit Conduct Rules. Players who receive 3 Fouls in an Open Online Qualifier and qualify for their Region’s Invite-Only Online Qualifier will lose their first opportunity to choose a Game’s Map in that Invite-Only Online Qualifier. Each subsequent Foul that a Player receives will result in the loss of another opportunity to choose a Game’s Map in that Invite-Only Online Qualifier. 3. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game and/or disqualification from the Online Qualifier. 4. Both Players may switch their Race after each Game. 5. No warm-up or practice Games are permitted once the Match’s first Game has begun. 6. Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game. Only Tournament Officials may connect to a Game as an observer. Inviting someone other than a Tournament Official to observe a Match may result in a Forfeit of the Game. 9. If a Player loses their connection to the Host during the first minute of a Game, and then the in-game disconnect timer reaches 0, the Game must be replayed. If a Player loses their connection to the Host after the first minute of a Game, and then the in-game disconnect timer reaches 0, the disconnecting Player will Forfeit the Game. 10. If an observer loses their connection to the Game, but both Players remain in the Game, the Game must continue. 11. The higher seeded Player must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Player must play as the Blue team. The highest seed is 1. 12. If a Game ends in a tie, it must be replayed.
Map Selection 1. Prior to a Best of 3 Games Match, the higher seeded Player must choose to act as Player A or Player B. Player A must veto one Map first, then Player B must veto two Maps, and then Player A must veto one more Map. The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Match. Player B must choose the Game 1 Map and then Player A must choose the Game 2 Map. The Game 3 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen or vetoed. 2. All Map Vetoes and Map Choices must be made prior to the start of a Match (See Map Selection #3, #4 & #6). 3. If a Best of 3 Games Match is expanded to a Best of 7 Games Match, Map Vetoes are no longer taken into account and the loser of a Game must select the Map for the next Game. For example, if Game 3 wasn’t played in the initial Match, the loser of the initial Match must select the Map for that Game. 4. No Map may be played more than once in a Best of 3 or Best of 7 Games Match. 5. No Map will be considered as having been used in a Game that is forfeited according to General Rules #3.

Top 8 out of the open qualifier getting into the invite only qualifier may make sense for the NA part of it, but for the EU qualifier it's just silly. Please give more players a chance to get into these qualifiers!
Also, please work on your announcement timings, it'd have been way better to release this information like four weeks ago so players could actually plan their schedule accordingly in order to participate in the qualifiers. |

That is correct, the player passes for Korea and Europe are no longer on sale for the Open Online Qualifiers.Last edit: 2012-06-26 19:14:07 |

| I want to play in the open bracket. Is there a competitor pass that I can buy? Or should I just buy a spectator pass? |

| For the invite-only qualifier, what channel do we meet in on battle.net? I've been looking in the rules and I don't see it. |

Player passes typically go on sale about a month from the event. Please stay tuned for announcements on MLG.

EU results are published on MLG's site now, btw.
Brackets can be found here, related newspost here.
Those no-shows are a bit sad.
Literally more than half of the players who actually played in the qualifier did win Arena spots, makes EU look a lot less competitive than it actually is. Why would you distribute nine seeds among 17 players, and two and a half of those don't even show up?
Please MLG, let more people play in the last stage of the qualifiers next time. You're stifling competition and actually hurting yourself because you may not get all of the best players into your arenas with this system. Last edit: 2012-07-03 07:52:57 |

| Now where is the bracket for the invite-only NA qualifiers? This information can not be this hard to release, and yet it us consistently not released. |
