I have a good enough computer for SC2 but I get like 10 FPS when moving a maxed army(all on lowest settings) so I guess I should check if all my hardware is working correctly?
What I need to check:
5770 Radeon card AMD Phenom x3 720 2.80 GHz |

| monitor temps, and clean out your pc of dust with canned air or compressed air. If your GPU is getting above like 100c then its probably throttling itself. |

| It's 50 - 55 usually. I'm trying to check if they are malfunctioning or something is wrong with them. Like, is there any test that checks your graphic cards speed? I could compare that to the speed it should be. Last edit: 2012-06-22 08:02:12 |

| It's a dumb question, but do you have the updated drivers for the graphics card? |

Def. get latest version of catalyst...or whatever AMD calls their drivers now. Open the case and check the lights that are on in the motherboard....sometimes they can indicate problems. You may have to find an online manual of for your particular motherboard model. Make sure all the fans are running smoothly....As mentioned above, check that dust isn't choking the innards of your system. If temps are running too hot try running it with the case opened with plenty of ventilation.
The fact that you had experienced good frame rates and now you don't implies hardware failure....are you overclocking? Make sure your power supply is adequate and didn't crap out. Check that your PC can run other comparable games as well...is it only SC2? You have a unique problem if you used to get good FPS an now don't so it could be power supply failure, hardware failure, spyware/gunked up OS issues, etc.....good luck. If nothing else, reformat the computer and see if that helps. Its always good to do that every so often anyway. Make sure you backup all your important documents before doing so of course. | Should I be getting 1 FPS late game when moving 200/200 supply of zerglings? Is that normal with my hardware? |

Actually, close to it, yeah. I mean, maybe you do have a problem and are getting 1fps instead of 5-10, but that's pretty normal with that number of units. The CPU just can't handle the pathing/AI needed.
P.S. Your graphics card should be more than powerful enough for any graphics setting though.Last edit: 2012-06-23 08:10:00 |

So if I upgrade my CPU, it should go to around 20ish? Was thinking about getting this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727 |

I have a similar question hope its ok to post it here.
I have a laptop with same specs as 2010 mac pro. It used to get 40 fps in late game, now its close to 20. Could heat issues that are no longer present since I cleaned it have damaged the CPU? |

No, modern cpus employs several schemes to deal with overheating situations. Anyway, you could monitor your cpu/gpu temp/freq and see if some kind of thermal throttling occurs when at full load (a sign of improper cooling) also it would not be a bad idea to check your current power scheme. |
