Hi guys, I'm not sure if any of you would know and I googled it but got mixed results so I thought I would trust in you guys.
Basically I just want to record xbox 360 footage onto my pc. So I can youtube it and such (for some funny videos with friends). I was just wondering about recommendations and stuff.
Thank you, |

| The Hauppage HD PVR if you can afford it is the best option I think. |

you need a high def capture card, hdmi or component depending on your 360
you have two options, cheaper cards which rely on your cpu for processing, or a bit more expensive cards that have dedicated processing. the live gamer hd seems to be getting good reviews, but a bit pricey at ~200+

There are three big companies, as I recall. The biggest & fanciest is Black Magic, where you'd probably want something like the intensity pro. The Black Magic devices, as I understand them correctly, have the bandwidth to save uncompressed video, so they are capable of the highest quality. Hauppauge Colossus might be in the category too, I'm not sure.
Hauppauge and Avermedia produce the next tier of devices. They use their own processing power to record compressed video, which results in less potential quality (but still enough for Xbox outputs as they can handle 720p or 1080i, just not 1080p). This is probably the higher end solution generally used for recording console footage. There are also some which will save videos to an external hard drive rather than the one on your PC, like the AverMedia Game Capture HD.
There is another, lower tier of devices which may be more to your liking (I assume they're cheaper) which can only record standard definition (480p, for instance). I'm pretty sure that to capture in 480p you have to play in 480p, however. Not as nice.
Some of these devices can cause display lag.
To get a decent one, you're probably looking at $140-160. I could go on, but here's my best piece of advice. The people who use these love to put all sorts of videos up on the web. You can probably find a video review or 2 of just about any capture device just by googling "[name of the device] review". |

My xbox is pretty old but I think it has HDMI. Sorry for the double post. |
