Perhaps I should also ask about the sweet spot in purchasing an i7? I was looking at them on n ewegg earlier just to get a feel for the range of price and performanace and there were sooooo many! I have no idea how to figure out what the best deal is. The most intensive thing I am looking to do is stream starcraft in really high / top of the line quality.
After reading this, I have the strangest feeling that you may not even need an i7. Are you going to be doing any high quality streaming or video encoding/editing? If you're just going to be playing games you'd probably be fine with a decent i5 and would save a good $100.
