Since more people are posting guides, I have spoilered their guides in the text below. Barbarian Act 1 Guide + Show Spoiler +
Alright, so I've noticed in another thread, a lot of people are asking where they should farm and well I thought about it, and decided, why not just make a mega-thread with detailed summaries or videos on where and how to farm on Inferno, so the rest of the TL community can find a simple place to help, discuss and theorycraft with each other.
So to begin with, I made a pretty long video, with a short summary of how to get the gear to farm and for how much.
If this thread gets enough attention, and people start posting their summaries, I'll compile all of them into a list, for easy access and reading, so you won't have to read through dozens of pages. With that being said, on to my guide!
Although I am showing this from a Barbarian PoV, any class can do this easily. Demon Hunter PoV If this thread should be posted in the Barbarian thread, than feel free to close this thread and i'll repost it there "Disclaimer" I'm not posting this video to say this is the best way to farm gear on Act 1, however I think showing others how simple this is, and how easy gear is to obtain now, warrants a look. Besides, you never know who might find this helpful, not to mention if you know a better way and want to show, feel free to post your method in this thread
That being said, disregard the video and simply read the text, if you can easymode your way through Act 1, but are just looking for a nice and easy way to do it.
This farming method is built mainly for fresh or veteran inferno Barbarians(minus skills, runes etc.) however any class can do this.
The video has not been sped up and it is all unedited footage. The video is 2 and a half hours long, so I would just recommend skipping around to get the jist of it. I simply made the video this long, due to the fact it is based around a fresh Inferno barbarian skill/armor set and I wanted to help visualize it for those new to inferno. There is a short simplified summary listed below. I hope you enjoy what you see!.
To begin with, download this if you feel it might help. I've been using it for 2 weeks and haven't received any warning and lots of streamers are using it, however I might as well warn as you never know when Blizzard may change their opinion on a matter.
It allows you to swap Dps/tank gear with your Magic find gear within a second of pressing a key. Instructions: Download the .exe and simply follow the instructions. Download autoit and the .au3 file if it doesn't work.
Guide: In this video, I go over a long guide on one of my optimal methods of farming Act 1 on Inferno, I also go over how simple the gear is to obtain(10k a piece)
This run usually takes 1-2 hours depending on what you want to do, obviously you can shorten your runs by skipping the mini-dungeons, but you want the most loot possible.
Bosses aren't important anymore. Getting 5 Nephalem stacks and continuously killing elite monsters is how you get the most loot as of 1.0.3 1. Buy gear in the auction house that has minimum 50 resistance and vitality. You want a minimum of 600 resistances and 30k hp for Act 1. I bought all my pieces for 10k each. These are my runes, and my stats when I am buffed with Warcry(Impunity Rune). 2. Begin Act 1 at "The Impisoned Angel" and start the quest at the subquest "The cursed hold" 3. Teleport to the cemetery, kill the yellow skeleton at the way point if it has spawned, if not simply clear out the crypts. 4. Teleport to Leoric's Manor, and backtrack all the way to Highlands crossing, clearing all the mini dungeons. 5. Teleport back to Leoric's Manor, and clear all the way up to the Warden. 6. Either repeat, or continue on to kill the Butcher. This all really depends on if you want to kill him or not. 7. Inspect your ilevel 61-63 rares, and hope for the best!
Note: I will spoiler my post and compile it with the other posts made in this thread, if it get's to a point that a lot of videos and guides are being made. Thanks!
On June 24 2012 18:02 yanot wrote: No offense but I think your route is sub optimal and can be improved a lot.
Here is what I do, using the following waypoints :
1 - WP to Northern Highlands - Watch tower dungeon (go north west) - you have between 2 and 6 (!) elite packs there. The tower doesnt spawn every time, so if not there I skip this part and go to part 2. 2 - Festering woods - I clear the 2 caverns. Guaranteed elite pack in each of them. Then I roam around to find packs, there are usually 2 packs, sometimes 3. 3 - Cemetary - I do all the crypts & the elite that often spawns close to the waypoint 4 - Cathedral 3 - There is often an elite close to the waypoint, if not there I skip and go to part 5. 5 - Leoric Manor (go in the manor, don't go in Halls of Agony) - again there is a guaranteed elite outside but you can find up to 3 packs in this area.
Then remake a new game or go to butcher if you want.
This route minimizes travel time and abuses the "guaranteed" elite spawn.
I'm a Wizard, and for my solo MF runs I do A1 clears. I made a video showing a typical run with no edited footage.
Wizard MF run in A1 with 246 passive MF
I skip the spider caves and the cathedral level 4, but otherwise I hit every area. I optimized my build to be what I consider a perfect blend of killing speed, defense, and MF. It is much more efficient this way instead of leaving and remaking games after just a short circuit, especially since I have 18% move speed. I also have 246 MF on my gear and I do not swap.
This run takes about 60-70 minutes. In this video, I found 2 ilvl 63 rare weapons, which is about average. I usually get between 2-4 rare ilvl 63 items in an A1 full clear. I net 3-4 bags full of items that I consider worthwhile to pick up. You will notice in the video I don't pick up a lot of rares, because they are low level weapons which are all useless. Even in the worse case scenario, I can clear about 100 essences per run and several items to sell on the AH for ~100-1000k range.
I am currently farming A2 efficiently with a Monk friend, might post a video on that. We clear most areas and ZK/Belial in about 2 hours. A2 is noticeably harder though, we do run into a few deaths here and there.
Has Blizzard ever told Any word about this autoit script for D3? I'm curious cause people dare to speak of it so open-mindely however I don't dare to risk (CE acc too!).

It's in the same field as the Darkd3, and stronger team color mod, as well as the picture you can have on your matchmaking screen in Starcraft 2.
Like I said before though, you can never know. Blizzard is weird like that

What do you mean exactly? I've done this on my demon hunter at a much quicker pace. You just need to replace Nether Tentacles with ball lightning, position your caltrops properly, and use smoke screen and prep against Shielders

god this video is long! thanks for your dedication KonohaFlash. I'll try some of the things you mentioned here with my Monk (of course once I'm done watching everything)
Since I sold my Wizard gear on the RMAH after beating Inferno a couple weeks ago, I re-geared her with full-time MF gear...
Currently at 207% MF, decent DPS and HP to run Act 1, with little to no problems. I have a similar route but I take longer because I don't have high-end gear anymore.
Though I haven't found anything great, so still disappointing. That's running with MF gear all the way through, no switching.

It can be done with any class with sufficient gear. The basic idea is to just grab as many elite packs as possible. The trick is to find the waypoints that are close to elite packs so you can minimize the time you have to spend searching or fighting through white mobs. I can clear a large section of A1 Inferno with my DH in 1.5 hrs and get about 60 rares (50 MF, no gear-switching). My gear is quite modest, my most expensive AH purchase was 500K for a weapon.

That's a really nice set of gear you have if you have 207% mf to go along with it All I can say is keep trying! I felt the same way as you, damn hellion crossbows with like 200 strength on them xD I eventually got a 800dps mace with like 180 str and 80 vitality, so as you can image I was pretty happy!
Your moment will come soon enough!

It's mostly me just mumbling and being boring at like 12am lol.

I will loose a lot of damage trying to get resistance and vitality and i think that's not the idea.

Ah, all I meant when I said any class can do it, I meant that in relation to the summary steps as to where to go. Demon Hunters don't need to worry about resistances and vitality as much as the other classes, you are correct.
I can do this run with my 52k(sharpshooter) Demon Hunter, so I don't think it should be too difficult
I'll see if i can squeeze in some time to make a demon hunter video(much shorter)

My MF gear isn't really great to be honest, just pretty much INT/VIT and MF on most gear parts. I don't need resistances for Act 1 since I have force armor and diamond skin for emergency.

So I've been noticing that when i use my dps/resist gear I get fewer yellows but I get more i62s and i63s both yellow and blue wise. But when I use my MF gear I get 1 more yellow per rare/champ/elite, but they are usually level 55-59 and I get fewer blue i62s or i63s.

Yea, you can get away with lots of pure deeps builds on Act 1 Inferno. I can't wait to get more life-leech gear so I can use a 2hander on my barb

Sounds like a perception sort of thing. I usually get ilevel 55 gears with my dps gear, and ilevel 62's on my MF gear.
Sidenote, I'm uploading a DH PoV, since people are asking nicely!

Well, I guess I can start tracking it. Both of the i63s I got i had my regular gear on and one was a 2 handed axe with cold damage and a socket, so it might actually sell.

Yeah, i have 52k too with sharpshooter but the thing is that i will get insta killed if something will hit me, i am doing decent damage but i cant survive, plus the repair cost a lot so it's not a profit yet...pre-patch was ok running act 1 inferno for me but not now

I agree with you. You really have to be careful now, thanks to the repair cost. All I can say is try and get a monk or barbarian friend to do runs with you. I believe there is a thread on the forums, where you can meet-up with other TL members

Thanks for posting the vid with your Demon Hunter, ill look it and try to do the same thing.
