Dear TLers,
We are the organizers of Koreign Tournament, which aims at creating a community of foreigners that play on the TW/KR server. (website here: http://www.koreign.com)
We were actually quite shocked to see that in the current Blizzard agreement for online tournament mentioned this:
(a) The Tournament must be free to enter;
(b) You may not charge any fees of any kind to watch the Tournament;
(c) You may not accept advertising revenue of any kind in association with your hosting of the Tournament, nor can you accept funds or prizing from sponsors of the Tournament in excess of $5,000.00 USD in the aggregate for all Tournament sponsors;
(c) The Tournament must be limited to 500 players or less;
(d) You shall not alter or modify any part of the Game for any reason;
(e) You may hold the Tournament in any country other than the Republic of Korea;
and (f) it must be a requirement for your tournament that all entrants in the Tournament must be adults in their country of residence, or minors over the age of 13 with written permission from their parents to participate in the Tournament.
You understand and agree that You will responsible for all aspects of the Tournament, including without limitation:
As you can see, no free online authorization shall be given if a tournament is held in korea ! I wonder what the community thinks about this terms (not that we can do anything about that agreement), and that sort of exclusivity that Blizzard keeps on the Korean soil ^^. This is actually a limitation if we want to hold some barcraft and onsite tournament, but we are still watching how big is the community for those kind of events in Korea.
Everything is still in the process, and it look ok so far. Koreign July (gold/silver) is still in the process of registration and will be aired on july 7th for the first rounds with finals on 14th. (registration here: registration to koreign july, 32 spots maximum).

For the next tournament, Koreign August and in order to improve everything, we have to ask from the community what they see as a future koreign tournament check out the polls!
It will be on Saturdays, but we can set the time (see poll on the schedule) to accommodate more people on the stream and the tournament itself.
