I have a custom melee map called Mercury. I've gotten very good feedback from many people (most being Diamond, and a couple Masters). I would like to have this map looked at by others, and if you happen to want to play it, it's called Mercury by me, DownRight. I have posted this map on SC2Mapster where you can check out the image, description, etc., and would like to have it recognized in the community. I know the map needs work and more testing, but I would like to plan for the future. If you played the map, please post a comment on how it was. Also, if you have any information on what I can do to promote the map, please share. Thank you all and have a nice day!

Edit 2: The main base looks like it's out of bounds, but it is in fact not; I'm unsure why it appears to be in the image, but it technically is not.

Edit 3: This map continues to be worked on, and I am really working on balancing. Anyone wishing to give feedback and play the map is more than welcome, so please do so.

I don't think anyone would want to steal this map even if they could. Even if the layout was good, you have buggy cliffs all around the map. It looks like your editor glitched out, or you used the Show Terrain Cells tool over each cliff. The sloppy texture work is not going to help your cause either.

I'll refrain from commenting on the layout until you run the map through the Map Analyzer, as the map is difficult to read right now.

Edit: If you share Map Analyzer images, the summary and nat-to-nat images are usually the most useful.

Edit 2: I'm playing on the map right now, and the cliffs are fine. However, the Main/Nat/Third layout looks like poor map design, as it's difficult to hold the natural, but the third is rediculously easy to hold. I'm not a fan of the chokey middle either. Textures still look bad in game, and you have no cliff gap fillers between the natural and man-made cliffs.

Pylons at the third allow you to warp one zealot in the main, however, it will not have vision of the main where it is located, so it may not be a problem. Even if it's not a problem, having the third be on the same level as the main will be amazing for Protoss cheese involving Void Rays or observers.

Edit 3: You can totally drop/warp units on the wall between the main and the third. Also, part of the main beind the minerals extends beyond the map bounds, and that is gross.

I think you should not be so arrogant, saying you want your map to get to the GSL, MLG or ladder right away is not only silly, but it might also discourage people from helping you. Oh, and the likelihood that your map would be stolen is close to zero, not because the level of your map, but because lets face it, mappers get zero credit unless they get a map in a major tourny or the ladder and even then no one knows who they are.

Anyways about the map, there are many things in your map that are considered bad, such as the wide 2 entrances to the natural which make toss FFE super hard, 1 width ramp at the 3rd which makes it very hard to get in and out with a large army, and the 3rd being at the same level as the main, which could rise a whole lot of issues (even though it is an interesting thing anhd if you made the cliff larger it might work) I will not list the rest because these are the most important for now.

Actually after giving it another look I think it could make a decent map if you made the nat to be FFEable and the ramp to the 3rd two or three width, but of course an analyzer is needed to really show how big it is.

Thanks for the feedback, but I am a little upset that some people are a little hostile around here. I was not asking for people to comment on my wishes, just the map. Anyway, everyone in StarCraft II liked the map, so I am unsure why the map isn't so great here.

They're doodads, which make the transition between different cliff types not look horrible.

As for hostility in this community, there's a pretty high standard for maps around here, especially when it comes to praising one's own work. It's generally better to be humble about it, because there are many very high-level mappers that post here, and so someone will always find something to improve or work on.

I've actually looked at your map when I saw the BNet thread, and it's a decent starting point, given it's one of your first, but honestly, there's always room to improve. Keep working at it, and you might have some potential.

Thank you very much, and it is one of my first. I did recently make improvements, also fixing what Timmay mentioned. I also did clean up the textures, too. Also, I just realized that the cliff gap fillers are not needed; I didn't actually mean to connect natural and man-made cliffs, so I fixed that.

I have modified the 2nd choke at the natural; I've blocked the side choke with rocks, and it makes FFE easier.
