Apple successfully sued Samsung over 4 patent infringements - the main thing being unified search engine (Apple's Siri), the other 3 patents include stuff like screen unlock. You can read the whole story here:

As a result the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been banned in the US. I find this completely nuts. Apple might be in their right after all, but who granted them patents for those features is beyond understanding for me.
Just a couple of days ago the same judge banned the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well. This ridiculous patent war between Apple and Samsung takes the market competition in to a completely destructive spiral for us the consumers. Last edit: 2012-06-30 23:51:19 |

What the fuck, how can Apple legally begin to set up a monopoly on this shit? Of course their prices go up and up and no one gives half a shit because they're a BRAND name and they have very little true competition.

Patent law is a fucking travesty in the US.
Almost anything can be patented by a company and then exploited.

But intellectual property law means that Ideas can be "Owned." so that only certain people are allowed to improve them or make a profit using them. This is a huge problem in america and leads to huge slowdowns in the development in technology.

siri is a joke anyway, i mean yea its kinda impressive, but does anyone really use it on regular basis? i doubt it. and thats that, apples only notable "innovation" in the past year (it really wasnt, there were many not much worse voice controls before).
im guessing this is their best chance of competing since the innovating way is no longer a possibilty with iphone 5.

This is realy sad news (for america) and i agree its a completely rediculous patent war.
Lots of thoose patents went way to far

Yup, also dont understand, some solutions and "inventions" are so common sense that they should not be rewarded patents.
To pull an analogy into extremes, its a bit like when general motors would have a patent on the wheel, and every other brand who has a car with wheels is banned. |

I've had an iPhone 4S for close to a year now and I can tell you the only time I use Siri is when my friends ask to see it. -.- |
