Did you even read the article? It's not an attack against Apple, but the patent system. Both parties have sued each other over various patents, because the system pretty much forces them to.
Also, I don't see how this automatically hinders innovation. If you're not allowed to implement a competitor's solution, you're forced to innovate and develop another method. |

And Samsung has never sued Apple over patents? |

This is such a joke... I've had android for 2 years... My best friend has got iPhones for 2 years... Every single time a new feature popped up for android (the most obvious was HTC Sence for my HTC Legend) I would show him how Android phones could easilly be equal or even better phones. And then 2 months later iPhone had implemented HTC sence into their OS. And then they pull this off? That's such a joke.
I hope someone will eventually do something so Apple can't just dominate the market |

Because you posted the article AND your opinion in the same post and made it look like the two go hand in hand? You have some odd logic, buddy.

Apple forced this situation not the system.
But the system allows Apple to do this.
The thing is, law supports Apple, no matter what are the intentions of Apple (and most of the time intentions of big corporations are identical). They are making legal moves, so they are clean. If you want something changed, change the law not the company. |

Android used some stuff from iOS, and Apple did the same. The most obvious one is the notification bar that looks like it was cloned from the Android one. The difference is that they didn't get an avalanche of injonctions from Android phone maker or Google.
Not to mention to try to patent every single thing they can, in a recent court case they argued that a tap was a "zero-level swipe" and should be linked to their swipe to unlock patent (the fact that they obtained that patent is already wrong on so many levels), which is absolute utter bullshit.
Look up "apple logo lawsuits", it's hilarious. They sent their lawyers against institutions and schools because they had an apple in the logo, and by apple I mean the actual fruit, not the bitten logo. If they could patent the fruit they would.
And just for the lulz. |

Hard to do when the patents are so inaccurate thanks to the fact that they only describe in vague terms.
Btw most of those patents are illegal in EU since you can't put a patent on piece of software or were available before being patented by other firm.

If a company develops something that lots of people use and other companys aren't allowed to use it, then the company won't bother changing it for the better because they don't have any direct competition.
It also opens doors for monopolys. |

The US government stepped in and took Microsoft down a notch in 2000, maybe the same thing will eventually happen to Apple?
Personally I don't have any Apple products, I've always hated the company for overpricing its stuff and cutting down features in favor of safety and attractiveness. I'll probably get S2 down the line when I start making some money. I wanted to before I heard about this case, and now I'm definitely wanting to after reading. |

We aren't here to rave about how much we love the system. I think the consensus here is that it has its flaws.
And just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean you should do it. The Westboro Baptist Church's actions are protected by US law, but they're still douchebags, just like Apple in this case. |

http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/3/3136336/galaxy-nexus-no-longer-available-to-purchase-from-google-play-website
Update 3: We just spoke to Google, which confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus is no longer on sale right now, but Google says the device will begin shipping again next week. The company wouldn't get into specifics about why sales stopped, or whether new devices will include a patch that works around the court's preliminary ban, but they will indeed have the new Android 4.1 update.
So maybe they found a way to work around it already ^^ Happy to see. Also, having jellybean on my nexus, I can tell you it's amazingly fastttttttt. I was about to buy an S3 and give my nexus to my girlfriend but after playing with JB and seeing google's price on a contract-free phone is definitely making me consider just ordering a second one instead of buying the S3.Last edit: 2012-07-06 08:50:28 |

Wait... unified search engine? WHAT. I suppose the 360's voice activated bing violates this as well? Hell, nowadays most cars come equipped with similar technologies for similar purposes, especially when connected with phones.
Jesus. I'm ok with protecting your idea and ensuring you can profit from it but has Apple actually come up with... any of their so called own ideas?
(And yet, I continue owning my iPhone) |

Yes, it's called the iPhone/iOS. There was absolutely nothing like it on the market in 2007. |

I find this extremely funny!
"U.K. Judge Colin Birss has ruled that Samsung can continue selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the region because the Android tablet is 'not as cool' as the iPad and therefore is unlikely to be confused with Apple's slate. Samsung's Galaxy line of tablets 'do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design,' Judge Birss said. 'They are not as cool.'"

I was thinking the same, we'll see if the government will step in. The way it's looking with Apple being sue happy sue happy happy it's looking to be sooner rather than later. They do need to sit. |
