11-15", max. $1500 / 1000 EUR (I could go a bit higher if its a perfect match.)
matte screen (could go for glossy)
I'm gonna use this for stream watching (twitch.tv/own.dk you know), and output to TV also.
Replaceable HD could be nice:
I have a spare SSD so would be awesome if I could find one where its easy to remove the internal HD, and replace it with the SSD. So amount of GB on included HD is less important. More important if I can remove it.
I live in Denmark, so bigger well-know brands are properly easier for me to find here, thought because of wanting to replace HD, I don't think Apple is a good fit.
I don't need to be able to play SC2 on this, its more important that its low noise even when watching 720p starcraft stream.
I'm most likely gonna use Windows7.
A Blu-Ray drive could be nice, but not a must.

| Strange requirements, almost any laptop with HDMI could fit that purpose. Are you sure you don’t want a mini-PC? It would be much cheaper. |

Yes I am, been a long time since I bought my last laptop, DELL with ATI 1300. I'm mainly asking here because I'm having a hard time finding one where I can take out the HD and replace it. I'm not sure why you ask me if I'm serious. So please do tell if i'm not getting something.
From the post below yours I guess you are asking because almost all laptops would be able to view twitch.tv/own3d streams.

Yeah a mini-PC is cheaper, but I want to be able to bring this with me on the train. This is basically because I want to replace my 6 year old laptop with a newer less noisy one. And since I know very little about what brands are good and all, I thought it would be good to ask people here on TL for some advice.

| Well that’s the thing, what else you want to do with it . There isn’t much you can do with a laptop if you only have an SSD and most 2 hard drive laptops are 17,3’’ which isn’t good for trains and such. In order to help you people need to know how often you want to carry it and what you need it for except for watching streams. |

| Just to say, any semi-half-at-all decent laptop will be able to run 720p streams. Lol, for that cash you should EASILY be able to get one with a dedicated GPU if you so please, or just go intergrated. Either should do the trick for watching 720p video. Gotta shop/ask around for the blu-ray drive and 2.5" bay. Last edit: 2012-07-02 05:43:20 |

Sorry if I didn't write that more clearly (english not my first language ). I don't want room for 2 HDs. I want to remove the HD that comes with the laptop, and install my own SSD. So I in the end have a small laptop with 1 SSD in it. |

Cool, I guess I was just a unsure if integrated gfx would be enough.
I guess now the quest is to find a one where its not super difficult to remove the HD. |

| A cheap option is to get a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430 but you still have to tell us if you want to play any games at all. Last edit: 2012-07-02 19:06:08 |

I mentioned that I don't even need to play SC2 on it, so nope this is not for gaming at all.
I basically gave up finding a good 15" that wasn't noisy as hell and doesn't have a glossy screen. The asus G55 was close, even had an easy way to change the internal HD. But only the G75 had a matte screen option here in where I live.
EDIT: I just forgot another reason why I didn't go for the Asus G series. No optimus support. No need to have a GPU running when not gaming, only makes the laptop more hot and cost extra in electricity.Last edit: 2012-07-03 08:01:38 |

| you should be able to what you want with the cheapest laptop you can buy that has HDMI (almost all of them do now) I don't think you should spend even $500 on this let alone 1000 |

~$400 netbook + external USB Blue-Ray/DVD-ROM sounds like the optimal solution. Netbooks are lightweight and run fairly cool and quiet.
Check out the Lenovo S-series netbooks, for example. Tech specs shows if you get one without integrated graphics, it should have an HDMI port. Double-check that before you buy though. Their offerings seem to be different based on region.
Also, look around the other manufacturers websites to see what their offerings are. Samsung, Acer, ASUS, etc. I only listed Lenovo because I'm a happy consumer of two of their products (one laptop, one netbook). |

Someone else suggested a Lenovo X series on another forum, so I think I'll look closer into Lenovo now that even more in here suggest that brand. The cheapest x121 even had the option to change the HD.
Thanks for the suggestions. Now I know I don't need to spend that much, and I have a direction to go with.

Sure, T or X series are good for travelling, usually smaller, more durable but slower hardware for the price. The x121 is pretty small if you want that but don’t buy the cheapest ones, they have a pretty bad CPU. Get the one with an i3 processor like this one: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_ThinkPad_X121e_1143575.html |
