| Should have tried to get people to think it was a police radio. Give like, one or two checks to clear one guy, or incriminate another. Give a red check on someone to bus them, then a green check on yourself to confirm yourself as town. Would have bee. Fairly believable because a DT check on someone who is highly suspected is totally normal, and it works out nicely because you bus someone who is already likely to die, and will certainly flip soon after your broadcast. His flip will confirm the legitimacy of the police radioish role. |

I never understood those roles
I knew there were similar roles like that in other mafia games.....but what's their purpose?
Like, people will instantly figure out the message comes from scum (since a townie wouldn't need that at all, he'd just claim his role or post whatever he wants to post in the thread himself), so people wouldn't pay much attention to the message.
The only way I can think of it is to do something like this:
"Hi town, I'm a townie and I found scum. However, I don't want to get shot at night so I'll make my case in here:
*case against a player*"
Or something like that, convincing people you are a townie that doesn't want to out himself or something.
But other than that I don't see any benefits in that power :/ |

If you want to go crazy with it, there might be some synergies between Broadcaster and the scum messenger role? Not entirely sure if it'd work, but there could be options like PMing ... say Chez here, when he thought there were 3 town messengers. PM him saying you're with a third party, and to watch the day message for more information, confirm the PM via day message and try to get him working on some side agenda? There have to be simpler ways to use the two together, but nothing comes to mind immediately.
Could have also used for just...general time wasting? When slOosh posted mafia PMs, people went slogging through to find anyone who'd used the term chaos. Can just mess with everyone's heads by asking mafia members to use certain words, or to disregard PMs that said to use a certain word, etc. Even if we know the broadcasts are from mafia and are misleading, SOMEONE is going to spend the time and effort to look back through all those pages of D1 and D2 trying to find information. |

If it wasn't clear already I had decided to use the power. However I pretty clearly couldn't use a message from the broadcaster when the word broadcaster role was so tightly connected with scum.
Still waiting for aftertalk and thoughts from hosts regarding the setup. |

This would have worked regardless. Even if the clearing hadn't, it would have cost the town a ton of useless discussion which could have never been traced back to you because of wifom. The fact that it had to be stated with "a message from the broadcaster" could have been worked around. All of my PM's had the subject "Order", and I worked around that with both my fake invention, and my fake chez house PM.
But regardless of anything, it could have been used to create significant chaos.
@prob (cause quoting on my phone is a pain), I'm not going to say, but I know at least a few people have figured it out. Surprised the rest of you haven't. With the possible exception of you, who I don't remember playing with. |

It wasn't beyond retarded. I just forgot that 3rd parties were not present in the game. When I received the PM, I asked the hosts if I am a mole because honestly I had no idea what happened. I did not think about consequences, yes. I honestly thought it was some funny club I got into.
