from playsc.com, i tried to recreate the tone of the text as much as I can
Even though it's been many years since her appearance in the SPL, even though every preliminaries she gets disqualified before the camera zooms in on her, even though she's been dropped from the A line of STX last year, ToSsGirL's retirement announcemnt still sent shockwaves across the fan base. There needs to be something to commemorate her professional career, we want to be chasing the professional games of the past, but in the end there is always a sense of heaviness and sadness, let's find some interesting fleeting moments now, while everything is still not at an end.
![[image loading]](http://www.plu.cn/d/file/sc/note/2012-07-02/d0435e618d5dcadb7c3641bcf9b8eda9.jpg)
When ToSsGirL is mentioned everyone's favorite responses are those male players who fall before her skirt after making the mistakes of underestimating her. You might have already remembered, so let us start with the innocent player "Lengnan" Super.
When 2990 ESWC arrived in korea, the country of starcraft had to have a BW event, but this time Kespa didn't send its top ranked players, so this happened:

![[image loading]](http://www.plu.cn/d/file/sc/note/2012-07-02/e844be35fd32428d595008d0d2cbafd1.jpg)
Super's unfortunate/innocent experience became the topic of discussion which gave way to his nickname. Many fans who still speak of the event also remember another an outstanding Chinese zerg - F91. Who also came to a chance to face the "Queen (female emperor)", in the 2010 Shanghai expo STX conducted a China-Korea BW exhibition match, as the WCG China Champion F91 also attended this match, but unfortunately rumours are that when ToSsGirL used a mech -> bio switch F91 was completely lost as to what to do (laugh), so our F91 also became the victim of the Queen's pleasant memories. What had happened then? Take a look here to find out:

But in reality losing to ToSsGirL isn't something embarassing, she was a pro-gamer after all, and these games do have a high element of luck and coincidence to them. Two years before "martian" EffOrt was fighting for the OSL champion, in the GomTV invitational he also had the misfortune of losing to tossgirl. (She is still a very competitive player, laugh)
+ Show Spoiler [GCL Tossgirl vs Effort] +
Ofcourse out of the players that lost to ToSsGirL there is one even more famous, being our Manly Protoss Reach, at the 2009 eStar mantoss became the last male character out of our trip down memory lane.
+ Show Spoiler [Tossgril vs Reach] +
From the apex of competitive female leagues, to today's difficult transitions, ToSsGirL has had a professional career spanning more than 10 years, and (her career) has become a miniature model of the life of BW. Even though MBC game has left the stage, even though ToSsGirL has left professional gaming, even though BW itself has to leave the Korea esports mainstage, but stories about ToSsGirL, and about BW will continue.Last edit: 2012-07-03 11:59:46 |

Stories about tossgirl will continue? What, like fanfiction?? jk
Thanks for the writeup. I get the feeling they didn't really know too much tho, especially skipping over the early years of her career when she was in the female leagues. Would have liked more insight from someone who really followed her career. |

Yes. Cannot say I'm an expert on her career, but there was a lot missed in that article.
Some important highlights of her career were missed. Tossgirl is well known for causing the legendary player FreeMura to rage-quit retire after he lost to her in MST offline prelims (he was THAT upset about losing to a girl), and knocking Yellow out of the WCG prelims (back when Yellow was still considered a top Zerg).
Her dominance of female leagues was also very impressive. None of the other ladies came close. |

that was the funniest loss that reach ever had. the most manly of all men losing to a girl
EDIT: But tossgirl is still a great player nonetheless so i guess the loss wasn't too bad. Last edit: 2012-07-03 02:49:27 |

im confused, how is reach 'more famous' than effort? effort basically carried CJ for months and months, unless i missed out on some crazy Reach phase i cant possibly even understand the logic one would have for this
EffOrt was rank 2 on the elo rankings at a point, right behind flash (or was it jaedong?), when Jaedong had 80% ZvZ effort manhandled him quite frequently, he was probably one of the few zergs that jaedong (and everybody else) was afraid ofLast edit: 2012-07-03 03:34:33 |

Reach is a legend in the sc:bw community he was one of the first players to play the game so yea he has more name value than Effort. |

ToSsGirL's best matchup is/was TvZ. The game she took off of EffOrt was in a Bo3 which she ended up losing. EffOrt was still a b-teamer back then and it was his first televised match.
In the game vs Reach, Reach basically let her win.
To me the most impressive game ToSsGirL played, was against UpMaGiC in SPL. I believe she could have won that one if she wasn't super nervous. Both her macro n micro were severely lacking, no match compared to UpMaGiC's.
She isn't and never was a great player, but she's a girl... a really cute one. |

| Nice, just watched the game vs Effort. It's definitely a nice trip down memory lane for me to the BW GSL. There's even a scene where they focus the camera on Tasteless casting :D |

um Reach carried the WHOLE PROTOSS RACE for YEARS.
Effort's accolades pales in comparison to what Reach has done.
Just go check both their liquipedia and Reach has way more medals than Effort's two.Last edit: 2012-07-03 04:39:29 |

You're kidding, right? You don't know who Reach is? Mantoss? The Hero Protoss? Seriously, look him up. He is one of the most famous players of all time and although Effort has been stronger in recent history (past 4 years or so), Reach's lifetime achievements are VASTLY greater. There's absolutely no question that Reach is more famous. |

Agreed. Her bunker opening played out perfectly for her, and she would have probably won right there if she hadn't made the bizarre mistake of attacking UpMagic's SCVs with hers instead of repairing her bunker. After that, her play was generally good, but she couldn't come back from the failed cheese. Quite disappointing, since getting that win could have been a ticket to more PL appearances.
She really seemed to be capable of playing generally well (as far as mechanics), it's just that she would always make really weird D-level decision-making blunders that lost her most of her games. I don't know if it was nerves or what. It really is a shame, since a really successful female SC progamer could have attracted lots of new female fans. |
