Hey all - I assume this is in the right forum, if not, please move it 
Just wondering what everyone is doing for the above mentioned PPV. The most anticipated fight in a LONG time in the UFC, and could quite possibly rival Chuck v Tito/Chuck v Wand (it surpasses them in my eyes just from the multiple aspects that have increased the tension between Silva and Sonnen)
So many factors:
- Silva not fighting since last August
- Silva in 100% condition (reported rib injury last time pre-fight)
- Silva mentioned pre-fight when he beat Sonnen, that he wanted to sub Sonnen (whether he wanted to wait untill getting bashed for 4.5 rounds is another story lol!)
- Silva promising some VERY violent things for Sonnen in the coming fight.
- Sonnen's BJJ training with Vinny Mal
- Sonnen having won 23 minutes of the 25 total in the last fight
- Sonnen getting into Silva's head with tier 1 trash talkin
- Sonnen's ban for elevated testosterone levels in a post-fight test.
Can't help but expect some vintage matrix Anderson Silva... 1st round feeling out process, 2nd round - hands down - counter striking with malicious intent.
I've got Silva via TKO (hoping for a KO though!) in Round 2. Wanting BRUTAL knees in the clinch ala Silva v Franklin 1(and 2)

Going to be hard counter striking in RD 2 when he's on his back eating elbows.
Sonnen has the perfect style for Silva. Going to be an amazing fight, pretty interested in what all Silva has worked on to not let it go down like that again. Can't wait. |

| Last time around I was rooting for Chael, especially after that bs Silva pulled his previous fight against Maia. But this time I'm pulling for Silva cause Chael just wont shut the fuck up. So damn annoying. |

Sonnen didn't look very good (face-wise) at the end of the first fight, especially for someone who would have potentially won the fight 50-44 or 50-43 if it went to decision - he was busted up, though it wasnt exactly counter-striking, just rude shots from the bottom. I know what you mean though.... but a small part of me still thinks that Silva was trolling him in the last fight, and will just unleash violent hell upon him this time round.
Will definately be an exciting fight, and I'm not counting either fighter out!

I've never been more excited about a MMA fight than this one!
I am really, REALLY hoping for Chael to win. Sonnen is absolutely hilarious and underrated as a fighter -- he beat up the allegedly #1 p4p fighter up for more than 4 rounds! And not just by lying on top of him, but also by knocking him down several times. He is however susceptible to being submitted, and that might be his downfall once more.
I don't like Silva and his arrogant attitude and the fact that many people to this day still thinks he is unbeatable, regardless of the fact that he got beat up for almost 25 minutes. He might have been affected by an injury in their last encounter, but I guess we will find out Saturday.
@liberate71: The fact that Sonnen did not good after their last fight does not mean anything imo -- some fighters bruise up really quickly whereas others can get punched in the face 100 times and it doesn't show for some reason. And how can you possibly think Silva was trolling the first fight? Do you think he enjoyed getting knocked down and dominated on the ground for 22 minutes? Don't you think he would rather dominate his opponent and show why he's the alleged #1 p4p fighter?

Ok I'll bite.
You don't like Silva's "arrogant attitude" - but you like Chael Sonnen...? *Mindblown.gif*
Sonnen used to be funny, but when he took on this WWE Persona in the last 6-8 months, he became really stale and boring. Merging the lines of MMA and Professional Wrestling doesn't give MMA any credibility - Chael included!
Silva got "knocked down" once, and Silva remained standing, but he put his hand on the ground, which counts as a knock down. The other time was blatant slip, the rest of the times he ended up on his back were all takedowns 
Chael certainly did take the world and the champ by surprise. But if I was Silva, and I had trolled him for 4 rounds then submitted him.. i'd be pretty happy with myself. Moreso than KO'ing him ala Forrest Griffin.
Some factors that contribute to this is the conversation that Silva had with Big Nog BEFORE the fight (see "Like Water" doco) - Where Silva said he was going to submit Chael, Nog just said to go for the KO... and then Silva insisted on a submission. Silva then comes out on fight night in his BJJ Gi (which he NEVER does), and also put on the Gi post fight.
I think submitting Chael meant more to Silva than re-iterating his already obvious #1 P4P status.
Regardless, I only said that a small part of me thinks that... in reality I think Silva DID want to submit Chael, but didn't have 4 rounds of pitter-patter punches and constant pressure with a few power shots thrown in as part of his plan in doing so.
Youre right though, people do cut easily, but Chael is rivaled only by Bisping as the weakest puncher in the MW division. He is like the Jon Fitch of MW.
Thing is... Chael's onlychance of winning is a 25 minute decision. Silva can win by TKO, Submission or Decision. The cards are stacked against Chael.

| Hard to pick a favourite here, for me at least. Spider Silva vs Testosterone Sonnen. I love arrogance in sports and these two certainly bring it to the table in different ways. Hoping for some epic smack talk and a long good struggle! |

I'm not sure what Sonnen can do, I mean, he pretty much destroyed Silva last time by pounding him for 5 rounds but what actually happened? I don't know how hurt Silva was from that, he didn't really look it after the fight.
edit: completely forgot Sonnen could try and dominate for 5 rounds and just get the decision

I got some great odds on sonnen and put some money on him hoping for a big payday. Looking forward to this fight more then a lot of other ufc's that I can remember. Lesner fights were amazing when hes the home town hero.
Silva Is the god of the octagon. Never lost in the ufc and doesn't look to begin anytime soon. even with all the things against him he pulled from hell itself to pick up the triangle on sonnen. Hes getting old though and I don't know how many more fights the guy has in him.
I want to see one fight right now and one fight only Silva Vs Jones. No one is on their level right now but each other I think and the window for the 2 to fight is closing. Silva has fought light heavyweights and won anyway. |

I guess its unfortunate that how sore they are after the fight is pretty irrelevant then...Chael won the first four rounds and was a matter of seconds from winning the fifth. That is pretty dominating...
Not that i want to take anything away from Silva, he got the sub in and he won. And i think and hope he will win again. |

| Yeah this should be a really good fight but it will be a huge battle for sonnen to win this one. He is also talking a ton of trash and not just against silva but against Brazil, which to me will ensure that Silva knocks this fucker our with a counter or submits him with ease lol. |
