| To get bones in the same division as Silva would be a lot of sufering for Jon, since he already said hes closer to moving up in the weight than down. Anyway, the leg cutting could work =P. |

Chael did a spinning backfist, lost his footing and was too dizzy from all that spinning.
Otherwise, I get this feeling that Chael is fighting unfair with testosterone replacement therapy. Who knows how much he is getting when he is not tested. Besides one reason for having low testosterone level could be due to steroid abuse earlier in his career. Either way, what he does is unfair to those who fight naturally. The older fighters have less testosterone but more experience, while young fighters have the opposite, so it balances out. |

Thanks JMB
Your gif makes me see something incredibly flawed in Sonnen's plan:
OK, you fucked up and slipped, that's ok. What do jiu-jitsu masters in the UFC do when they fall? they either get up real fast or they lie flat on the floor and make sure their head is not easily reached by raising both arms and feet to block the approach of the guy coming at them.
Sonnen stood there in a sitting position, being COMPLETELY vulnerable to retaliation by Silva. |

chael poked silva in the eyes on the ground as well. glad this whole spectacle came to an end, the deserved champion won.
pokes happen, just like it did in an earlier fight tonight. But intending to grease up (even though it was thwarted), holding the shorts and kneeing a downed opponent (probably aimed for the head, but deflected by Sonnen) - that intentional as all hell and it says a lot about Silva.
I think Sonnen really blew it. He got desperate after he couldn't finish the takedown in the second round, but if he just kept at it, if he reset and jabbed a bit, he would've completed it eventually. And as we saw in the first round, Silva's BJJ isn't good enough to sweep from the half guard or escape from the guard. He was just holding on. |

I watch a lot of anderson's interviews in portuguese and it didn't sound like it was a troll. He even said that after the fight he was gonna bow do Sonnen no matter the results, because he's a fighter and he has the honor of a fighter bla bla bla.
Yeah I suspected that....just seemed like a weird aftermath reaction vs a dude who insulted everything you stand for. Thanks!

It ended the fight, how could it possibly be a bad situation ?
throwing a knee on an opponent who is clearly 'downed' is really risky. 1. he could have hit sonnens head (intentional or unintentional) and it would be a dq 2. people will say it was aimed at the head no matter what (and it looked like it was)
It definately looked like it was to the face in the fight cam, since we saw it from behind Silva. The side shot made it pretty clear that it wasn't aimed at his face though. I think Silva is right to take the chance to finish him there ( or deliver a debilitating blow ) when the first round was so one sided for Sonnen. Got to be able to pull the trigger. |

imo andersons next fight is going to be against rashad, afaik rashad wont drop down to middleweight unless its for a championship fight but tbh i can see chael beating anderson in a 3rd fight, his style matchs up perfectly against anderson. that and he doesnt get intimidated by him
I can't, only reason is that sonnen can't finish a fight while silva can.
chael always overpowers and controls anderson easily, unless he doesnt get caught by anything he could easily win a unanimous decision. all he has to do is last 3-4 rounds
He has to last the five full rounds. If sonnen was a guy that got you on the ground and then subbed you, I would easily say that he has a good chance against Silva. The problem is that Silva is very resilient and Sonnen is not a very good fight finisher, while Silva is dangerous at every moment.
brazilian pride aside, anderson got lucky in the 1st fight. that being said i still had him winning this fight all im saying is chael's style matchs up very well against anderson, dunno how u can argue against that |

given the chance again I am sure he would have shot a soft double leg and worked his way back up
the reason he looked to awkward is probably because it was not a practiced position

Lasting 3-4 rounds is no easy task. Even when he had position Silva had great ground defense.
Remember he found an opening in the last round before. The guy is very dangerous when you push forward like Sonnen did you are going to make mistakes. Remember how we spoke about not letting rage get the best of you? Wreckless aggression can lead to great counters. Silva used Sonnen's own momentum against him. |

No brazilian pride to be honest, I think for example that JJ can rape Silva. I'm just saying that while Sonnen can get Silva on the ground he can't sub him, and all it takes is one mistake from Sonnen for him to lose.

Well, the turning point to the fight that people seem to forget about was Silva's takedown defense for like 1-2 minutes at the start of round 2, where Sonnen had a hold but couldn't finish a takedown. The moment space opened up between them Silva started throwing like a snake, and Chael responded with a bit of a desperate breakdancing whirlwind spinning elbow. |

Um, chances are Silva would go up and not the other way around considering you know... he says he walks around at 220lbs which sounds like a little bit of a stretch but he had no problems at 205. Don't need to meet midway. |
