users opinion on options and mods during casts

Since the first TSL4 qualifier, the finals' casting happened with a stronger color mod applied to the game
the stronger color mod, to my knowledge, was originally a mod to help people with visual impairment to play the game, and was popularized by the caster orbs (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

some people without disabilities seem to like it, some to hate it

for this reason, there was some other casters (liking the mod) starting to apply the mod, but it never broke through in large tournaments

now, as previously stated, out of seemingly nowhere, the finals casts were casted with stronger color mod applied
i'm unsure if it is a decision of the casters or the TL staff (could be in support of color disabled people), but i'm pretty certain there was no announcement for it, and certainly no front page poll about it

since it brought so much discussion in the qualifiers thread, with no real follow up, i thought it would be nice to decide now, what the TL users wants, or would prefer to have for the tournament before it happens

so here is a place for everyone to discuss, or simply state your opinion on the options (see below) and mods applied to the game during casts in general, and about stronger color mod in particular

i made sure to make different options for everyone's feeling, but sadly TL polls option for keeping order doesn't work (admins, we want that), so read carefully before voting

Maybe the options in the poll about the color mod should be a little more deliberate to be taken seriously?

As I've said before, I like the mod because it does what colors are supposed to do in sports. It differentiates between the players a lot better than the original colors.

Colour mod seems unnecessary to me. If they believe the colours are to similar in some situations (i.e. both players using similar colour choices), maybe they should enforce Red and Blue colours, which provides easily good enough differentiation between the two players.

I personally don't like the mod at all, not even in mirror matchups, for me it's completely sufficient if you enforce complementary colours (honestly, for me it's sufficient if you don't enforce anything at all, but you might as well).

I think it makes the game look even more cartoony, most units and buildings look ridiculously overdone and I'd dislike it if you continued to use it, but I can see why some people want you to.

Your choice, TL.

IIRC, the color mod comes in two flavours: a stronger one and a more subtle one. The finals have been cast using the stronger one, which basically changes the building and unit textures as a whole. The subtle one looks sharp, imo, but the stronger one is really fugly.

I love the stronger color mod, at least whichever version was in today's finals. I think ZvZ and PvP especially need it, but overall I think it's a lot nicer in any matchup because it makes it easier to visibly distinguish between sides in hectic battles. I don't think it's gaudy at all. I do like the more cartoony feel though so maybe that part is more up to taste.

The poll options are pretty biased :/

I actually like the Color Mod, a few units are a bit too much, but overall it helps visibility imo.

I really don't like the color mod. I personally don't have any difficulties distinguishing lings/zealots etc. from each other, so i find it completely useless.

I guess for some people this is a huge help though.

As long as the players colors are not super close then their is no need for a color mod. In other words no purple blue or yellow red.

Ah brutal, I really liked the colour mod while watching a ZvZ yesterday. Sad to see the anti side winning handily.

Also really annoyed I can't vote as one of my jerk coworkers already voted. "You have already voted in this poll."

I actually really like the colour mod. Makes everything clearer and looks fine. Would love to pretend to have some in depth, clever sounding opinion but really it just comes down to "I kinda like it". I wouldn't use it for playing but for watching others it's cool.

I do not like the mod. I love the original art... and also think that TSL is the most credible tournament in the entire scene. IMHO... you guys should not even consider using this mod. If your opinion is that the team colors should look different, then we can express that to Blizzard in other ways. Keep everything as real as possible. As raw as possible. The real tournament of realness.

Sorry to say that I didn't watch a single game of the TSL because the stronger colour mod was just so ugly. I couldn't follow what was going on well at all and it was just a piece of shit to look at frankly. I play on lowest but I like to watch tournaments in ultra without any mods. What I saw of those games looked awful.

Especially when there was a zerg and he had made banelings it was just like massive balls of bright light a total fucking mess the only time I couldn't see what was going on.

I enjoy being able to see what's going on when banelings enter a fight. Also I find that the default zealots are nearly impossible to differentiate when they are in a battle. It's a good mod, I was thinking of downloading it for myself.
