That said, the major limitant in laptops is not raw computational power, but heat and power. Most, if not all laptops under 17" equiped with an i7 will sufer major heat issues and most likely will shut down under heavy load or suffer slow, but steady damage to hardware.
I'd advise you to get a not sot powerful cpu like an i5, and just play on lower graphics details, while keeping constant check on your temps.
Why would manufacturers sell i7 laptops if they were guaranteed to suffer heat issues that severe?
Apple sells Macbook Pros with i7s, as do many other manufacturers; they won't just shut down if you put them under load. An i7 processor will be fine for gaming as long as you give it proper ventilation (not on something like a bed mattress, but rather a hard surface like a desk). |
