Slow Frame Rate During Large Fights

This just began happening recently. I am playing on a Sager NP8150 with a Intel i7-2720QM @ 2.2 GHz CPU and an AMD Radeon HD 6790M GPU. I don't understand why I would be getting any lag ever with this hardware. I usually play on Medium Graphics with Ultra Textures with almost no lag ever. Now, I play on Low Graphics and Low Textures and in big fights it still says your computer is slowing down the game. I don't understand. Norton says my computer is secure and virus-free. My computer runs hot, but not hot enough to cause this kind of lag. At least I don't think. Maybe thats the issue.

Anyway, any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

Large battles are hard for most machines. They are limited by CPU power, rather than GPU, so lowering graphics settings has minimal to no effects.

The i7-2720QM is a good laptop processor, but it runs at only 2.2 GHz, which is significantly lower than its desktop counterparts. The fact that it's a quadcore with hyperthreading is of little consequence as SC2 can only use 2 cores.

There are limits to what you can do with laptop hardware. And you're hitting them.

Check your power plan is on high performance.

Yeah, with laptops Jinglehell is dead on. It's almost always some power saving feature throttling your processor.

I love you guys. I forgot I switched to power saver about a week ago when I was doing some work without my charger. Haven't played yet, but assuming that is the issue.

:D

Yeah I think with that CPU and graphics card you certainly should not have any slow down on low settings

Yep, it was definitely the power saving settings. Playing on medium with no lag at all now. :D

Actually, sometimes it's also the issue with desktops. Really uncommon, but I've seen it a couple of times, for whatever silly reason.

It was either that or temperatures.

Dunno what "limits of laptop hardware" was all about though >.>

But people have had too high expectations of laptops before.

Well, if letting it use more power fixed the problem, somehow I really doubt heat was the issue.
