Its one week out from the final submission date and we've already got a number of cool entries in our inbox. We've been really excited to see the positive reaction from the community for this tournament. So keep those submissions coming over in the submission thread for your chance to win your share of $150.

The Pros

The following mappers will serve as the 'pro' mappers for this competition.

Timetwister22
Twimtwister22 came to fame with a shock placing in the top 7 of the TLMC. He was quickly recruited to the ESV mapping team and is producing a ton of maps for them. 'Frigid Pass' was selected for use for a Dream Hack and a number of his other maps have been used in the ESV weekly.

monitor
monitor is one of the key organisers behind the MotM each month. As a member of the ESV mapping team, he has produced a number of maps including 'Korhal Compound' which was selected for use in the ladder after it placed third in the TLMC.

lefix
lefix is a member of the TPW mapping team and has had five maps place in finals of MotM, which shows his skill with the editor. His map 'Odyssey' has seen significant competitive play in the NASL and NASTL. He also plays a significant role in the organisation of MotM.

Ragoo
Ragoo is one of the most active posters in the mapping forum and regularly posts useful feedback on maps. He is on the TPW mapping team and has produced a number maps which have made the finals of MotM. His map 'Twilight Peaks' placed in the Top 7 of TLMC.

iGrok
iGrok is an absolute mapping legend and the founder of MotM. Recently he has picked up serious mapping again and is producing some awesome maps. He is most known for his epic lighting packs and detailed breakdown of how lighting works in SC2.

Icetoad
As the youngest member of TPW, Icetoad is brimming with talent and ambition. Before joining TPW he headed the LoS mapping team which focused on producing a few super high quality maps, rather than a massive map pool. He is probably best known for his map 'Elder Roots'.

Namrufus
Namrufus was recently recruited to ESV and is a mapper brimming with potential. Having been an active member of the TL map forum for years, he has picked up and absorbed a ton of knowledge and become a truly skilled mapper. He placed in the last edition of MotM, and there will surely be more of those to come.

Gfire
Unlike most mappers, Gfire has found a lot of success with 4p maps. Indeed his recent results in the MotM put him on ESV's radar who quickly recruited him to the team. Like Namrufus, he is another mapper who has been around for a while who has transformed into a very skilled mapper.

Meltage
Meltage is one of the foundation members of TPW and has produced quality maps for a long time. His map 'Overgrown' was considered for use in NASTL. He is known in the community for his relentless refinement of his maps and always strives for high quality finished product.

NullCurrent
NullCurrent is one of the key administrative members of TPW, as well as a very talented mapper. He is probably best known for his map 'Concrete Dreams' which is a work of art (and surprisingly good FPS wise). He is quite a picky mapper, and is allergic to bad rotational symmetry.

Johanaz
Johanaz has a reputation as the best aesthetic designer in the mapping community. His maps are actually pieces of art and made the 'Map Art' thread on TL. But his maps aren't just pretty, they're also very playable. As a member of TPW, he has made many maps which have placed in the finals of MotM.

IronManSC
IronManSC is a member of the ESV mapping team and has had quite a remarkable career thus far. His map 'Ohana' has found enormous success in the community and placed second in the TLMC. It has also been included in the ladder and is a tournament staple. He is a 2 player map specialist.

The Order

The pro mappers were arranged in alphabetical order and assigned a number corresponding to this order. Then the computer algebra system GAP to create a random permutation of S_12. The order of the elements in S_12 dictated the order in which the pros will select their maps from the entries. The order is as follows:

1) Timetwister22
2) iGrok
3) Johanaz
4) monitor
5) IronManSC
6) lefix
7) Ragoo
8) Meltage
9) Namrufus
10) NullCurrent
11) Gfire
12) Icetoad

Time is running out for you to submit your entries. Go and consult the submissions thread for all the details about that (do NOT post your maps in this thread!!!!). Remember to get your submissions in by the 13th of July!

Are all the maps going to be analyzed by the pros, or only the best 12?

The pros will go over all the submissions and choose an entry that they like and go from there.

If you don't fall under the pro category, then you are free to submit maps (I think). I believe all of the invites for pros went out, and we don't need more than what we've got at the moment. Sorry that we didn't let you know.

Was Superouman busy, or did he just not want to? I'm a bit surprised he's not on the list tbh.

Well, there is a limbo of mappers who aren't eligible to submit, due to placing in a contest or whatever, but aren't on this list. Kind of a flaw in the format. There are probably too many ineligible to submit to all be invited as pros, if too many of them wanted to, and some of the guys who won like a motm a year and a half ago or something might not really be qualified.

Kinda awkward no matter how you go about it. The format kinda needs that group of in-betweens to be excluded to separate the sides, since there's no clear place to divide it. You don't want the amateur maps to be too good, or there won't be enough to improve (and if all the pros pick the best maps which don't need to improve, it's not doing much good,) but also you have to make sure that the pros are good enough that they can improve the maps enough. There sort of has to be a sort of semi-pro group that's excluded from either side.

For this motm, though, I think they asked some of the more recently-active non-eligible people until they got enough to be pros. Not necessarily based in skill or amount of success overall. Seems like a decent method, I guess.
