Pfft, I was enjoying seeing these updates on a daily basis from you. I'll be posting something very soon as well. I've got a spreadsheet that lists all of the picks for each of the event categories which will make doing the tabulations much easier. |

Very close call for the Judo pick'em pool: It is a contest between France, Russia and Japan before the last 2 disciplines. France has got 8 points, while Russia and Japan have 10.
In the last 2 disciplines they all have exactly 1 competitor in the semifinals and Russia has a reperchage. The Russian repechage and the japanese are in women's, while the russian semifinalist and the french semifinalist are in men's.
It is very unlikely that France can win the competition, since it will take the japanese and the russians to fail to grab medals. Japan is in an awkward position where they need more medal-points than Russia. Russia has everything to loose with 2 chances of medals. |

Another relatively close call in Rowing: Kiwis and brits are basically the two to watch: With 10 points each, Germany at 7 is unlikely to take over the lead and most others are merely theoretical contenders. There are 4 races left and they are going on tomorrow and New Zealand only have one chance at a medal on women's single sculls. On the other side of the fence both Germany and Breat Britain have a shot in 3 races of which Great Britains are most likely to take medals.
In archery one event remains today and nobody has even the slightest hope of winning against the koreans in the totals. |

Russia and Japan both end at 12 points after the final event. I am not completely sure how things are counted. If it is most golds, Russia is winning, while if number of medals are more important, it is Japan winning. Can we get a clarification? |

Remember, the final scoring for each medal is as follows: 3 points for a gold 2 points for a silver 1 point for a bronze
Two disciplines have been completed and I have listed below the results based solely on countries selected by someone in the pool:
Archery: 1. S.Korea - 10 (ironic for the archery event isn't it?) 2. China - 3 3. USA - 2 4. Australia, Great Britain, India - 0
Note: Italy/Mexico also earned - 3 Judo: 1. Japan - 12 2. France - 11 3. Brazil - 6 4. China - 3 5. Greece - 1
Note: Russia would have earned 12 points as well as was stated above.
Rowing will be the next area completed. I have updated the picks sheet listed in the first post with the results from the first two disciplines. Standings right now aren't going to be too useful as it's a gigantic tie for first(those that picked S.Korea and Japan).

| Some disciplines are just too heavy on medals and biased for specific countries to get wrong: Aquatics, Cycling, Fencing (surprisingly!), Rowing and Athletics. Missing those really hurts your point score. Boxing seems surprisingly irrelevant because of so many nations taking medals. Weightlifting is a place where the top contenders are close, but the rest is completely squashed by their weight! |
