Hey all, this is NinjaX, and I'm here to present a project that I've been working on. I have went through top guides to improve all the default suggested items for all the heroes in the game.
1) Go to C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Dota 2 beta/dota 2) Backup "itembuilds" folder 3) Copy and paste "itembuilds" folder from this package to that directory
Please leave your suggestions in the comments below. Your opinions will help improve this project for the next version.

No. You are allowed to change your default suggested items. You are replacing a list of text files that changes your default suggested items. There is no way you will be banned for doing this.

Definitely good for new players. But people who know their stuff will just edit items on their own. Problem is how many people will actually download and use the list? And how many of those are actually new to the game or just newbies.

I've played DotA for 9 years, I play it on a competitive-high level. I'm going to download this asap. Good job NinjaX - You're doing lots of great work! *edit You should separate the preview images from the main download/ make a smaller d/l for the text files only, kind of pointless to make someone download 40mb of images they are just going to delete if they don't care.
Bump for epic justice, thanks ninjax I'll probably refer some of my newer friends to this.
I hope valve takes things like this seriously, letting the community decide of the core items for a hero makes more sense than letting a valve employee who probably doesn't play dota 2 much or at all choose.
Awesome, I've been looking for something like this. While I usually use guides when learning a new hero, it's a lot more fun to use common sense + recommended items to play heroes you're not good at. Knowing that the recommended items won't be utter crap will help a lot.

Don't know if you know this, but you don't need to stick with Only the "Starting", "Early game" , "Core" , "situational." You can delete/replace those categories however you want.
On CM for instance, this is my item setup:
You Are Support; Tango, Flask, ManaPot, gg, wand, TP
You Are Support: Wards, Sentries, Smoke, Dust, Courier, Crow
You Are Support: Medallion, Urn, Boots, Bracer, Magic Wand, Basilius
You Are Support: Mek, Force Staff, Euls, Drum, Atos, Gem
You Are Support; Ghost Sceptor, Blink Dagger, NecroBook, sheepstick, pipe, shivas
to improve your setup Ninja, i'd recommend removing any item that is repeated, like branches and bracers, and making sure that each category has 3, 6, 9 , etc items in it, so it looks nicer.

I have considered adding more categories. I didn't want to radically change too much so it's still feel the same as before, but just improved.
