I don't think the pre-tournament favorite has ever won a TSL. I wasn't around for TSL 1, but iirc Mondragon was favored, and went out in the first round.
TSL2 had hype around mostly IdrA, with DIMAGA and F91 thought of as possibilities to knock him out. When those two zergs were disqualified, IdrA became the overwhelming favorite, and got knocked out in the second round.
TSL3 had MC, MVP, and NesTea invited, and all were about equally hyped at the time, since all had won GSLs recently. MC made it decently far, but MVP and NesTea were knocked out in the first round.
Now for TSL4 I wouldn't say there's a clear favorite, although I'd say that Creator, Taeja, Squirtle, and Nerchio seem to be the top tier, and I'd say Squirtle if I had to pick one because of his recent GSL run. |

Creator's nerves in live events might get in the way. I think it'll have to be Squirtle, though I'll be rooting for Life of course  lots of yummy zergs for him to eat in NYC.Last edit: 2012-07-17 06:11:50 |

Yeah your right about Mondragon, people were stunned he went out 0-2 to Dreiven zvp first round.
As far as favorites for TSL 4 I really don't think theres 1 definitive favorite this time around. I would put Naniwa at the top with Teaja back to back GSL ro8s aren't easy. I'd put Creator and Squirte just below them. Nerchio and Hyun are my darkhorses. |

I'd say something like:
Squirtle, Taeja, Creator in top tier
Naniwa, Nerchio in next tier
Life, Curious, Coca, Hyun in next
Sting, Hack, Keen, Thorzain, Sase, Ret in next
First, Kas, Mana
fraer, Beastyqt, Vortix, Major
Everyone else: Daisy, Welmu, elfi, Babyknight, Bischu, Hasuobs, Select, Lalush, Darkforce, JonnyREcco

Don't think you give koreans (or people in kr) enough credit.. Daisy, Major, Keen, Sase, First, Daisy, hack.
For example, Major basically stomped the NA bracket in 4 tries. just saying... |

I've seen nothing to suggest that Nerchio is better than Curious, Life, or Coca (or even Keen). |

I think TaeJa is the most accomplished player in the lineup but because of that, I don't think he will take it.
If a player like Major or Beastyqt win that would be pretty neat imo |
