I recently rebuilt my machine with an MSI Z77A-GD65 ordered from amazon.

It boots wonderfully, OS installed cleanly, no BSOD etc.. but I can't get the LAN port to work. Device manager detects the device but reports a generic Code 10.

Threads like these seem to suggest motherboard spacers short out the LAN port. This didn't fix everyone's issues, however. This is highly possible in my case (I'm rebuilding my previous machine, left the old spacers in) but I want to avoid as much motherboard movement as possible in my tight case.
Besides downloading new drivers onto a USB (step number 1 tonight), does anyone have any debugging tricks or experience with this mobo/issue?
Edit: This was finally resolved, an extra spacer/riser under the PCI-E slot was shorting the ethernet port. Once we covered it with electrical tape, it worked perfectly.
