I'm looking for a motherboard, processor, and chassis that I can use for streaming.
At the moment all I have is a Laptop that streams about 30 fps on all low settings, early-midgame, around 15 fps late game
And a shuttle-type PC that has a subpar duo core processor. I need a new chassis so I can support a better processor (due to a shuttle PC having a small case). It was custom made, so I can't really link you to any model. I do have the specs though:
+ Show Spoiler +AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5400+ 2.80 GHz RAM - 6.00 GB Graphics - Galaxy Geforce 450 HDD - 2 7200 rpm 232 GB HD's
So what I really need is a processor. With this Bundle I think I will be able to stream due to the massive upgrade in processing.
Any thoughts TL? What do you recommend I should buy thats <$230? I need a Chassis, Motherboard, and a Processor. |

It will be very hard to buy decent hardware with that budget, especially for streaming. Most people that shop on a budget for streaming will pay around ~180-200 dollars on a processor alone (i5 2500k) and easily another 100 dollars for the motherboard and 50 dollars at the case. This is at cheapest with stock cooling.
Also, what power supply do you have? Will it be able to support the new hardware? And what about your RAM? Is it DDR2 or DDR3? There are alot of factors to take into considerations.
Do you have full specs of your current PC and a maximum budget? I'd love to help. |

My maximum budget is $230, and this "deal" on compusa only lasts for 2 days, IIRC (cant find it on the site, just remember it saying that somewhere) so I'm in kind of a hurry.
I have DDR3 RAM.
I don't really know what else to say, (not trying to be rude, just not very computer smart)

The bundle looks okay.
Basically, for a real budget streaming PC a Phenom II X6 is what you want and it would benefit quite a lot from a good case and even some cheaper aftermarket cooling.
I'm currently using the lowest phenom II (1035t) and I'm still running it at over 3.4 Ghz on the bus without trouble so my Starcraft 2 is flying.
In general, even though good cooling costs a little bit more, if you're looking to stream on a tight budget, you could need the benefit in cost efficiency of overclocking to really achieve what you want.Last edit: 2012-07-19 09:14:09 |

Yeah I have DDR3, I don't know how, I didn't build the PC, my father did. |

Could you post exact specs of your current system, including case? I highly doubt you will need a new case to have a new processor.
EDIT: Maybe your father knows what he built for you. Ask him? Last edit: 2012-07-19 09:18:34 |

| Yeah... I don't think you can have DDR3. I don't really know tech that far back, so maybe it supports both standards (???) but from what I can tell there's like no way you can have DDR3 RAM. Like other guy says, can you post exact specs of your PC? |

What do you need to know about the current system? Unfortunately I am not using it at the moment, as I am at my mother's house. Tomorrow I will be able to tell you, but then I'll have a 1 day deadline before this deal ends :/ I do know the computer used to be used as a server PC, so he built 4-5 PC's in VERY small containers so they could be stacked onto eachother in a small area (small business). I know we had to remove 2 HDD's so the graphics card could fit in it, the small power supply takes up about 1/3 of the case, we're talking small. |

The one thing you need to take into consideration if it is worth to spent 200 dollars on buying outdated hardware, when if you can spent double you can have a pc with much much better hardware for a relatively small cost.
Ofcourse it's your money, but my advice would be to save up maybe 400-500 euros and buy a brand new system with your old GPU and HDD's. If your set on buying a new system right now, you probably won't get much more than that bundle, especially because the 1045T alone is worth around ~130 dollar.

| AM2 doesn't support DDR3 so you don't have DDR3. Meaning you will have to buy new memory as well (~$40 for 2x4gb). |

| Well the problem is, I'm only 14, so I don't make very much money very often, and I just happene dto stumble upon this bundle. So it's like, do I spend $200 now on something that will accomplish what Im trying to do but is kind of outdated, or save money for a VERY long time to get something that will probably be outdated by the time I can afford it |

Don't really understand your reasoning...? How would you buy outdated tech if you saved up money... you would be buying the latest tech.
Right now you're buying a five year old processor with a shitty power supply that will probably crap out within the next five years. |

Is 5 years not a long time? I just got a new power supply about a week ago, that's pretty good ($100). Is the processor shitty? I thought 6X was pretty good considering I have a duo core... |

I would return the power supply if possible since a $100 power supply is extremely unnecessary for someone who can't spend more than ~$200 on the processor + motherboard. Five years for a power supply isn't a long time, even the budget units that are about $30-$40 such as the Corsair CX or Antec Earthwatts should last for more than five years.
X6 will allow you to stream but it's pretty shitty when you compare it to Intel's offerings. |

My other power supply died, so my grandfather had a few that were unused, so he gave me one. I know it was priced at $100 so I just used it d:
I see, thank you for helping me. |

| Yeah I know, I did mention that, but if he really wants to save money he can also go cooler-less. I used the more expensive cooler because I assume he wants to reach performance comparable to an i5 build, but obviously the really cheapest decent PC would be a 1045t with no cooler. |
