Dota 2 official WCG title

Good news for all Dota fans! Dota 2 is now listed as an official game for this year's WCG.

WCG 2012 Official Titles

FPS:
Cross Fire® (NEOWIZ GAMES)
RTS:
DOTA™2 (Valve)
StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ (Blizzard Entertainment)
Warcraft® III: The Frozen Throne™ (Blizzard Entertainment)

FIFA 12 (Electronic Arts)

Meanwhile, LoL doesn't show up as neither an official, nor promotional title, which personally makes me a happy dude! Also of note, WC3 DotA shows up at promotional titles, LoL got completely shafted!

Don't have to say LoL not listed in the title, that will only make for dumb flame wars and makes TL dota community look bad.

WCG teams all need to have the same nationality right?
This means we wont see Mouz, Na'Vi etc as a group.

Kind of cool but also kind of not.

WCG teams need ~51% from the same country, so teams like Na'vi, mTw(they have 3 frenchmen I think?) can join but Mouz can't because they have people from all over.

Considering LoL's presence within e-sports, it seems quite relevant that WCG doesn't include LoL. If C&C was being played, and SC2 was not, I don't think anyone would be complaining about it being in the title.
As for his additional comments about the game... no comment.

Well if it's inapropriate I guess mods should have a say about it, I don't mind if it needs to be changed. I find it relevant not only because of my personal opinion on LoL, but also because I find it hard for both games to coexist successfully. When dota 2 is finally released they WILL compete for the same market.

1) WCG is a shitty tournament. Nothing really to be aspire to be at.
2) Why list lol and not hon or any other ARTS? Go back to reddit with your drama posts.

Let's summarize: Kipsate thinks mentioning the fact that LoL won't be in WCG is overly subjective, and reflects badly on the TL DotA community. I respectfully disagree.

LoL not being listed has nothing to do with LoL's popularity or w/e, but rather has to do with WCG and Riot not being able to come to an agreement on terms.

TBH, WCG has been declining for a long time. I'm not sure many people will really care that LoL isn't listed while DotA2 is.

3) This is now official, it was just rumours before, official list was just released

I hate to say this but.....don't start a flame war. Just appreciate the fact that Dota 2 is a WCG title. Nothing else.

Didn't know WCG was still kicking. I thought that they announced a while back that they were only doing mobile games or something outlandish like that. Oh well, it's great to see them back on the horse, and especially awesome to see that they've included DotA 2. The DotA 1 thing seems weird, considering they're almost identical by now.

@_@ That strikes me as fairly ignorant. You do know they single-handedly kept foreigner Brood War alive, right? WCG used to be the big thing to train for every year--no other tournament was nearly as large-scale as WCG in the foreign Brood War scene. Bashing WCG (especially on a site like teamliquid) is a big no-no. It has a special place in many of our hearts.

For a long time though, WCG has never selected their games based on popularity, rather they've always gone for games that companies were trying to promote, as evidenced by their FPS lineup and nonexistent fighting game lineup (It used to be Dead or Alive).

While I am personally happy that LoL isn't included, the title is bad and is only made to induce rage/flame. If someone wants to make people notice that LoL won't be played at WCG, then he will make a thread in the LoL subforums and everything would be fine like that.

On another note, I'm surprised that WC3 is still being there. I mean, BW has been put aside (probably because of SC2), but I was under the impression that it has always been a more successful esport than WC3 (and not just in Korea). Most of the top players from both games have switched to SC2, but I guess since BW is now only played competitively in Korea it cannot appear in WCG

. I'm sad.
