Wow, didnt expect the UK to go this far. Are they taking a lead from what China did at the Beijing game . They seems to be having a shoot first ask question later mentality. |

Unions are striking like crazy and basically being greedy bastards, and the whole of london is in a mess due to the inefficiency and bureaucratism Unfortunately, i can't really see any solution to it but you can be sure that the weak links (the shitty unions and civil servants) will face the consequences and lose a lot of their undeserved power and control when things go tits up after the olympics.
Hopefully it will rally us as a country to do better next time
Wait, is it really that bad? Holy crap. It sounds like there are a lot of problems with this olympics specifically...is it significantly worse than the issues going on at olympic cities in past years, or is it actually this bad?!
No, it's not that bad. He's making it sound like there's been a disaster or something.
Yeah, that's the general vibe I got from it lol.
If it's really not then bad, then whew. Still obviously bad that this security issue got out of hand, but glad to see it wasn't anything devastatingly embarassing, etc. |

| Seriously guys look at the bigger picture. With enforced security, the'll be less pick pockets, less thugs and less problems. So enjoy yourself while your here and be gone with good times. Dont let 1 or 2 articles change your perception of London when they are in a massive scale operation like hosting the Olympics. And with the amount people in the city you should be glad of the surveillance. |

| Oh they're using stuff from The Minority Report. How the hell is this stuff even legal. Also Royal Navy, if you're going to wave your dick to the world, at least have something bigger to park in the Thames. |

In a way you're right, but I think everybody in this thread is actually ignorant of the threat to London during the Olympics despite saying 'I appreciate the need for tight security but...' London is one of the biggest targets for terrorism and as the Olympics is now being labelled 'the biggest media event in history' it's only natural to expect any terror attempts to coincide with the Olympics. I think that this particular case is probably a mistake, but mistakes inevitably happen when somebody high up says 'we can't take any chances' and somebody lower down interprets that after their own fashion. Still, they really can't take any chances and some mistakes are going to occur which is a shame but it's not a good enough basis to say the security is too tight.
Here's hoping the event goes smoothly and the security pays off. |

London has always been notoriously bad as a nanny state, the government doesnt like people being free to be themselves.
It's overbearing and to be honest taking such security lengths almost makes you more of a target, if it werent a challenge for terrorists it wouldnt be half as fun. |

| So... now this guy with a big business and shit has a criminal record? Because the state felt like he should pre-emptively be arrested? |
