For streaming you’d have to go with something heavier due to CPU stress and heat, for example this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230404&nm_mc=OTC-FroogleNEW&cm_mmc=OTC-FroogleNEW-_-Notebooks-_-ASUS-_-34230404

Or something similar but with 2 HDD slots for an SSD. For that much money you can get a custom configuration from

Are you saying he wants something physically heavier? I don't see why that's an advantage at all.

Building a laptop on XoticPC.com is a good choice though.

Hehe, it's not an advantage as much as a necessity. MSI GE60 is nice but it has too weak cooling for an i7 running hot from streaming. And good cooling laptops weight around 4kg.

I don't think heavy is the right specification... maybe spacious lol. Heavy =/= good cooling...

Anyways, this guy http://www.twitch.tv/slyfive/b/325875522 streams with the retina MBP which has a 650M, looks fine (look at his videos). That laptop is ~4.5 pounds, though it does have a reputedly super-advanced cooling system.

A crazy example since his laptop costs >$2500, but still you don't need a 8 pound laptop just to stream SC2.

Well, that doesn’t mean it’s not overheating. I’ve seen reviews and pictures of most laptops I suggest and only the heavier laptops can keep the hardware under 80°C in heavy load, not to mention avoid throttling. I’m not saying you can’t do it, I’m just trying to save you some trouble. Look what an i7 does to MSI GE60:
www.notebookcheck.net/Review-MSI-GE60-i789W7H-Notebook.77855.0.html
And compare it with Asus G55VW:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-G55VW-S1020V-Notebook.74851.0.html

In other words the MSI GE60 is relatively light but barely handles an i5 and GT650M:

And an XMG P702 as a comparison:

Laptops under 3kg usually have 2 or 3 heatpipes and negligible passive heatsinks, that’s why an i5 and GT640M is the fastest reasonable for them. Just look at the difference between Acer V3 and M3. Of course you don’t need an 8 pound laptop just to stream SC2 but it’s the best option if you want to avoid frame drops and artefacts on the stream and given the budget it’s the better option.

Just turn your fan higher using fan control and use a cooling pad when you are streaming. Problem solved. It is pretty silly to intentionally buy a bulky and heavy laptop for streaming.

A) Fan control doesn’t work with most laptops and when you stress the light ones they already run at maximum speed.
B) A good cooling pad might help but it also isn’t all that mobile.

It comes down to if the weight is and issue at all which the OP doesn’t specify.
