| have you tried switching stream servers? or using R1CH's tester. Tried contacting your ISP to see if everything is right or if they are having troubles? My guess is its just the stream server that its auto defaulting to. |

hmm, i switched the server from default (which is probably New York, NY) to US East: VA and it seems to have fixed the issue.
This is really odd, does that mean there's an issue on xsplits end or mine? (gonna use common sense and say theirs) |

If you have issues with VA's main server, try VA's secondary server as I use that one by default due to less traffic |

nono, im saying that switching to the VA server FIXED the problem, I think my xsplit was connecting to the NYC server by default
im just confused because i live closest to NYC by farLast edit: 2012-07-24 12:25:31 |

NYC server may just have alot of traffic at certain points during the day which is why sometimes you can stream 1080p and othertimes you can barely stream 480p |

NYC gets bad at certain points of the day, so I always switched over to Virginia when that happens.
Actually, the NYC server was always bad.
Yeah, don't use the NYC server. |

| Just to clarify, XSplit does not choose the server you stream to. That's solely handled by the API of the stream service provider, here Twitch.tv. Gunrun has been tweeting and writing is his newsletter not to use the 'default' server for Twitch.tv due to technical issues. We too recommend to use a named server or even better use R1CH's ping tester tool before each live stream to make sure the server you have chosen is 100% operational. We will be implementing his idea in our next release (all credit goes to R1CH). Last edit: 2012-07-24 14:51:27 |

They say in like every Xsplit Guide on YT (Swifty's for example) that you have to change the default Location, so yea. Good your issue is solved Last edit: 2012-07-24 15:10:22 |

^^That's what we told Swifty to say In theory, we would like the default server to at least be okay for novice users, but I'd always recommend to use a ping test tool & the XSplit bandwidth tester to pick the best server possible. For other stream service providers like ie. Own3d their 'default' server is fine since their API fully supports the dynamic server selection. I would also assume that eventually Twitch.tv gets their 'default' server (API) fully operational Last edit: 2012-07-24 22:46:30 |

Hi there. I work on the video team at Twitch. First, as of two weekends ago, we significantly increased the quality of the VA and FL primary ingests. VA in Particular should work significantly better for a number of broadcasters. Second, the quality of the NYC ingest is highly dependent on ISP. Many NYC casters find that VA is closer in network distance. Geographic closeness is a can be a poor measure of expected performance in the modern internet - going from inside the NYC to another server in NYC often goes to IAD or futher before returning.
Cheers! |
