| This is the sport I most want to watch at the Olympics, but unfortunately it's not a popular sport in Australia so it's never shown on TV. Hopefully I'll see some on the net. |

| I'm super excited to watch wrestling as well. I too wrestled in high school and LOVE the sport. I remember watching Cael Sanderson and Rulon Gardner wrestle in the 2004 Greek Olympics. I missed 2008 because I was in college and school channels didn't show more than one olympic station. USA WRESTLING SON! |

Thanks for posting. Started wrestling at the age of 4, wrestled all the way through a few years of college, following had several professional MMA fights. Nice to see some more TL'ers that wrestled. If you guys didn't know, Bryce aka Machine from EG also wrestled and is an awesome guy as well.
Cheers and enjoy! |

| I know nothing about it, but for my untrained eye it seems Judo and Wrestling are pretty similar in many aspects. Except for the dress-code, what are the biggest differences? |

Wrestling is for men.
Kidding, the biggest difference in my opinion would be that in wrestling you can pin a person for a win but in Judo you can't. I'm pretty sure you can submit a person in Judo as well but it is more centered around being able to bring your opponent off balance or using his momentum to throw him down. In wrestling your goal is to pin a person, putting their back on the mat.
Overall wrestlers don't like having their backs on the mat. It is one thing that kept bothering me when I tried Jiu Jitsu, it felt weird having my back on the mat but I got used to it.
Don't know if this helps but someone else might be able to give a better explanation. |

| I'll be updating the medal winners each day (or at least try my best to) and leave them inside spoilers so it doesn't look too messy, once each of the events are over I will put them outside spoilers so people can see the results. Last edit: 2012-08-06 14:35:35 |

| Greco-Roman ruleset is so restrictive, it's really hard to watch. The only way people ever seem to score is once a round when the referee takes them down to break the stalemate. I hope freestyle will be more exciting. |

It's not that people scored once a round, there are two numbers, the white numbers (right side) represent what the wrestlers scored with a takedown/throw, reversals, exposure (back coming in contact with the mat). After every period, the wrestler with the most points wins that period and then is given a "point" in the blue part (or on the left side). In order to win a wrestler must win 2/3 periods so a match can potentially be over without going through the three periods if a wrestler wins two periods back to back.
There are also occasions when a wrestler wins 2/3 periods but can still lose due to the total points. Example: 2-1, 0-3, 1-0.
In this case the first wrestler won 2/3 periods but came to a total of 3 points and the second wrestler only won 1 period but had a total of 4 points, making him the victor.
Hopefully this helps a little bit. |

I know how the scoring works, I'm talking about how for the majority of matches, nobody scores until 1:30 into the round, where they're forced to go par terre due to stalemate.
Basically, the matches are very boring. Last edit: 2012-08-07 04:14:22 |

| Oh ok yea some can be I guess, probably due to the level that these guys are at one little mistake can cost them the match. I prefer Freestyle over Greco so I'm waiting for that as well. |

Can someone with an unbiased view educate me on what happened in the mens -96kg Greco Roman QF between Totorov and Lidberg?
From my point of view it looks like the russian hinders the swedish wrestler from locking his grip by moving his arm, I'm no expert though so I ask you guys, wtf happened and was it a correct call by the refs? |

Chollx, sorry I missed yesterday's matches =/
And in any sport where it comes down to a refs decision, there will always be controversy. |

| What the heck? They just stopped covering the men's freestyle with a "Coming Up" screen? Didn't happen the last few nights with the women's. I want my wrestling back! |
