It's pretty insensitive to the rest of the tournament scene to release the schedule of the biggest tournament of the year less than a week in advance of the first broadcast. We've had the Grand Prix II Finals scheduled for a while now, and if you had released this schedule a little further in advance we could have easily changed it to another day. I know you probably don't care much because it's not like we will negatively impact your viewers being on at the same time, but if the broadcast goes long we won't get any viewers or at the least not what a bo7 finals between TaeJa and Squirtle deserves. Just really sucks for the little guy. It's not like it's difficult to schedule at least 2 weeks in advance -_- Eh maybe we'll just change our time now, but 3 days away from broadcast that'll end up losing a lot of viewers that don't know when it is anyways
The date of the TSL launch was announced in May: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=339212
But not the schedule/timing itself I guess you could say we should just avoid any day the TSL is broadcasting but there are just too many events. Really have to know the time to avoid conflict Still, would have helped had I noticed that in the thread back then. Since it wasn't listed on the TL calendar (??) and we didn't happen to notice that sentence in that thread. It's still right now not listed in the TL calendar when you click on July 28th, which is a bit odd. Oh well, just gonna reschedule and hope we don't lose too many viewers.
Did you end up rescheduling already? As it is right now, I see there's a 5 hour difference between TSL start time and the ESV start time so it seems unlikely that they will clash too much. I mean, 4x Bo3 is equal to roughly 10 games, so unless the average game duration is 30 minutes they probably won't clash. |

Calendar is KST, so its listed on the 29th at 3am Korean time. Yeah, we probably should have said it starts at 2pm EDT, but all of our broadcasts start early/mid afternoon EDT. Every TL Open, every TSL, every TL Attack, always same time for the past few years.
Ah crud I forgot about the korean time-based dates thing.
Thanks for the clarification |

Oh my mistake, I guess it will be a tight fit then.
4xBo5 means an average of 16 games which gives you 18:45 minutes available per game. Assuming 3 minutes of talk and ads, that's 16 minutes a game. On a quick test of 20 randomly chosen GSTL games, a SC2 game lasts 13.95 minutes on average. Worst case scenario for ESV is if all 20 games get played in which case the TSL might run over the first 40 minutes of ESV (assuming three minutes in between games). On the other hand, it might also finish just as ESV gets started which would be nice for ESV since many of the TSL viewers could switch over from the one tournament to the other (that's my intention at least).Last edit: 2012-07-26 23:56:06 |

I Iove everything about how this tournament is being run. Somehow the lengthy qualifiers and main schedule make everything feel more dynamic than a weekend event. As a casual fan, I don't usually have time to watch things live, so I check in Saturday afternoon, and so much of the drama of an event is gone (these 16 players are left, everyone else is eliminated). I got into watching pro-SCII around the Ro8 in last year's TSL3. I actually went back and started watching the VODs from the Ro32 and followed the entire tournament spoiler free just in time to catch up with the semi-finals and finals. The VODs were (and are) some of the most spoiler free and well organized for any tournament. Also, single elimination is less of an issue when every match is at least a Bo5. What more could anyone ask for?

| Considering how big the scene has become since the TSL3, is Liquid/Twitch prepared for high viewership? Or will that not be problematic? |

Only thing that makes me sad is that this collides with the Swedish WCS finals. Guess I'll have to skip between them. Gonna be a lot of games for Lalush that day |
