No offence to the other members of liquid's roster but Slayers breeds good Terrans.
It's hard to imagine getting this far without TaeJa doing what he did. Last season without TaeJa we went 4-5 with Prime, 4-5 with FXO and 5-3 vs TSL, and finished the furthest of any non-Korean based team as top six. And won NASTL. To perform against some of the best from Code S it is no secret we need our Code S level players to have a good day. It is fair to mention that when we played against mouz Sheth/HayprO went 5-1, when we played against Dignitas Zenio goes 5-0. Sheth scores a potentially valuable win over Ace today, Ret did so against Sniper last week. Among other non-Korean teams we have an extremely deep lineup, but this is another level of play.
Sheth/Ret especially get key wins for you guys . Maybe not the keys to winning but they are good and consistant. Also.. so much blue postings Last edit: 2012-07-28 12:02:41 |

And its good thing that Taeja can step up to that level, not a sign of some hypothetical team weakness. Every team has their star player(s) its nothing to be ashamed of, and a sign that the team is able to attract the top talent. Don't listen to the haters; good job!Last edit: 2012-07-28 12:02:30 |

| Hey, LIquid Admins, stop worrying about what some random forum posters say about Liquid being carried by Taeja. Don't let them put you on the defensive. Be proud that your team has a teamleague star in Taeja (and Hero). You guys already beat 3 top Korean teams, 2 of which are GSTL winners and another a 2-time GSTL finalist. |

in plenty of cases teams have been pulled through by the remarkable performance of one specific player. Celebrating the fact when it is the team/the guy you are rooting for and at the same time bitching when someone does it against the team you support doesnt make much sense to me. Its not about flash only, some teams in gstl got carried hard by their ace players in the past. |

Not sure why comments like this are ever made.
Because it's arguably true whether Liquid or fanbois want to take offence to it or not. Ken just said himself, Teamliquid has a great talent scout and anyone can see from Taejas performance in the weekly korean tournies that he's talented. Either way you must be shitting me to believe Liquid would have made it here without him.
Hardly a Liquid fanboy and I never disputed the fact that Liquid wouldn't have made it here without him. That's my point - the same could be said about so many teams and their star players that it's just a moot point. There's no meaningful discussion to be had over it.
What if the Penguins didn't have Lemieux? Well who the hell even asks that? It's obvious someone else and their respective star(s) would win the championship.Last edit: 2012-07-28 12:07:31 |

My point being that you can't name another team with such a single consistent dominating player. I'm not asking for a discussion, this is a forum where I can say my opinion whether you want/like it.
The only other instance could be Flash but then again, he's a Korean and always been on the same Korean team while dominating. |

The carrying part is the reason why some of us don't much care for the type of format that GSTL and IPL TAC use. It isn't so much about the team as a whole but rather it is about how gosu your star player is. I don't think anyone is hating on Taeja, they just don't like seeing a good team that potentially has a better line up than the opposing team getting stomped by one player. The format doesn't necessarily show who has the best team, just the best player. In the end, TL won fair and square, maybe because of the format, maybe not. |

But that's when bias comes into play. I just mentioned that Liquid` got lucky with Taeja in terms of his successful growth with such a short amount of time when compared to Zenio. People immediately assumed that I was hating on Liquid`, as if I was demeaning the team by saying they're crap and they need to be carried by a Code S Korean - completely missing the point of my statement, which was actually the opposite. Remember the Cavs in '08, the Knicks in '10, and when LB played in Madison Square. |

I'm sure TaeJa's success will be quite the incentive to the team and specifically HerO. So I will be looking forward to seeing Liquid actually making it to the live IPLTAC finals in San Francisco after all. Both HerO and TaeJa will just have to each take at least two maps and possibly Sheth or Ret take one map as well, hehe.
Would be so awesome to see the full assembled Liquid roster at an offline event again (and maybe even get a long team interview again where they're all in a hotel room like after MLG Dallas 2010).
