Lately it seems that i either kill the Protoss with mid game bio or then lose the late game. This game was pretty representative of most what happens in most of my PvTs. Any advice would be appreciated. Is it just engagements/micro? Not enough harass? Poor macro? Bad decision making?

I like to open my TvZ games with 1rax expand into either 7 Min CS push to deny/pressure a 3rd or Bio Hellion (Like I did in this game). I feel like I did a good amount of damage with my push, but from there I don't really know where I went wrong. Was my initial push where I kill his 3rd executed poorly/didnt do enough damage, or how I played after that the reason I lost (If so, what could I have done better). |

Hi f0rlorn, regarding your TvP (from a diamond protoss prespective)
Your build order at the start seemed very solid and welI timed. I honestly believe your 10:30 attack lost you the game or edge you could of had. You engaged the protoss in his sweet spot at the front. The sentries and zealot just wiped your force letting him build as he pleased for a long time.
Viking count also seemed low in the later battle, there was only 5 if I counted correctly against several collosi. You probally would have been better with a nice 10 or so.
--- A couple recommendations I'd like to propose...
1) During your initial harass with medivacs (~10-12 minutes), take the scenic route, and try to get in his main. I'd recommend 2 medivacs, one filled with marines, and another with marauders. If you can multitask it, try and use your stimmed marines on his mineral lines, and your stimmed marauders sniping pylons. Keep them seperate hitting 2 spots at once. Don't lose your all of your units.
2) Increase viking count slightly if you see a huge number of collosi. I think a good 10-12 will be good. You seemed fairly low on them throughout the game.
3) You had 2 starports with both reactors. Possibly consider having one with a techlab earlier for a banshee harass. They are great for scouting and picking off probes and mobile. You don't necessairly need cloak unless you'd like to, but it's a good harassing unit when the rest of your units are home.Last edit: 2012-08-02 11:12:29 |

Watched your tvz game, masters T for reference 5:15 please dont send all your marines... massive retard magnet... 6:30 whats the point of this scan? 8:00 consider throwing down 2 eng bays before rax and starport - double upgrades because you have so much gas 11:40 target banes with hellions, and you probs wud have won the game here 12:30 i think you should continue the pressure/atleast scout with the hellions - pity you dont have a wall @ your natural 15:40 floating 1k means its time for infrastruture 16:15 pre spread you units dude.... 17:20 your third was wayyy to late 18:20 engage... yeah gg....
General stuff You macro'd well (until like the 16minute mark) but stopped scv's slightly earlier than i would have liked Try to pre-spead your units - fungals/storms/banes/colossi hurt Control - targetting units can save you @ times I recommend a wall @ the nat, counters r disgusting against a zerg late upgrades
Well tbh this was your game to lose, the biggest issue was the engagement and lack of pressure before that, you need to know where their army is to position your units better!!! |

Im also a diamond terran, going mech is my new fav thing in TvZ, not losing 40 marines to 150 infestor energy is very nice, just make sure to never cede air dominance (I go 3 Starport 2 reactor 1 tech after 3rd base), puts you on a very even level with army strength of the zerg.
You dont have to win TvP with your 10:30 push, But you best hurt him lots, you cant afford to not trade some units imo. Toss units just synergize waay too good. Not having alot of ghost viking will get you crushed if he has enough food. |
