Hey guys,
I'm wondering what requirements there are for two monitors that each show different content.
I have an old Samsung syncmaster 1600*1200 VGA only and just got a new Samsung 1900*1200 with HDMI.
Does that work?
I basically only want to have Guitar Pro, sheet music or SC2 on one monitor, watching movies and SC2 content on the other.
My graphics card only has two VGA-ports, but I'll pick up a notebook with 1 mini-VGA (adapter included) and 1 HDMI soon.
Does that suffice under Vista / Win 7, or do you need dedicated software for those kind of splits?
Thanks,
k. |

as far as I see it ,if theres a VGA /HDMI port on both ends (monitor ,computer) and theres room then im pretty sure it works,
i used to have 2x screens, one 24'' and one 32'', it worked just fine, but now im only using the 32''
should be fine for you |

| I think it's more of the resolution of the monitors/tv rather than the size of the them. It should be enough for normal situations but what gpu are you using? |

One thing to consider, SLI and XF don't work properly with multiple display. You either end up with only 1 GPU working or one monitor display showing black.
Also you would want run your SC2 in windowed fullscreen mode otherwise you have to minimize SC2 to interactive with other display. |

You could do that sure. But you would need to alt tab out of it everytime you want to do something out of that game instead of just moving your cursor over to the other screen. |

Yes, it's easy.
You get either 1. a video card with multiple outputs (and capable of multiple display; most recently current gpus can) or 2. get two video cards
For the most part you can do whatever you want on either screens. The limitation is mostly software, as it can get tricky at times. I watch streams/surf/shop the internetz on one screen while playing video games on the other all day long. |

I don't know what you're talking about here. If you mean he has to do that using two screens, of course, you have to do that anyway. Even in Full Windowed mode, the games are designed to not let your mouse go beyond the "screen" so you don't accidentally click on stuff outside of the screen.
If you are talking about using a single screen, that's not what he was talking about? |

How does that work mouse-wise?
Do you assign some key to switch from one screen to the next? |

| Works as if you had one monitor. You just move the mouse from one screen to the next. There is no switching of monitors, both monitors will be active at the same time. |

| Usually you just move your mouse to the edge of one screen and it goes to the other as if the two screens were just one. |
