Hello everyone! This is the official thread for the one and only Amateur Satellite for our next LIVE event, IGN Pro League 5! The top 4 of this Satellite will earn qualification for the live event.
IPL5 will take place in November at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. We cannot announce the exact date yet, unfortunately. If for any reason, a player who qualifies in these online qualifiers cannot make the trip to our live event, their registration fee will be refunded and we will use the Regional results to determine who will receive the free travel, hotel, and tournament seed instead. For Satellites, we will use results to determine who will qualify in their place. More qualifiers are being planned along with our event date announcement, so you're not totally out of the running!
When - Amateur Satellite: Saturday, Aug 04 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
The Format! Players should be online and ready to play within 30 minutes of the event's start time. Please be aware that these qualifiers can and will take a lot of time. Forfeits and walkovers will be used if needed. Each round is best of 3, with start maps labeled on the bracket. Players may be asked to wait to begin a series so that their match can be broadcast.
Servers: All games will be played on the North American server.
Spectators Rule: No observers/spectators are allowed for these games. IGN Pro League admins and casters may make games for players to help things run smoother and either referee or cast the matches.
Bracket: http://challonge.com/ipl5amateursatellite Players please meet in channels IPL and/or IPL2 so that matches can be reported to our admins.

Does the top 8 earn qualification spots to IPL5? Shouldn't it be the top 4 (+ 1 player from each of the IPL TAC 3 top-4 teams)? Anyway, I think IPL4 will be a good event in the winter.

I really want to play in one of these but the timing is so inconvenient <.<

Thanks for clearing things up. I thought for a second that things had change. (I blame tiredness for confusing the IPL numbers)

Best of luck to everyone playing in these amateur tournaments! I always enjoying seeing/rooting for the lesser known players in events like this!

The ones who are most likely to qualify is gonna be Code B koreans who haven't earned a lot of money, but is far better than the average foreigner.

I think IPL's definition is anyone with less than $1000 in prize winnings.

I may be wrong but I think that was the definition from the last amateur tournament

yeah hopefully that changes as its kind of a silly benchmark, im at 965... no sponsors, no pro house, no travel lol... meanwhile a player that has all 3 of the above will more than likely win... and if it stays with that format for ipl6 ill be full "pro" by ipls definition =/ while still not having any of the above lol.
anyways this should be a fun tournament today regardless. i avoid pro koreans for most of the bracket, but looks like pvp for most of it =/ though pvp is going to kill me with all the perfomance issues in this patch 1.5 that blizzard left in for release..

true but its going to be hard without my normal 200+ fps as i get under 20 in this new patch =/ PvP is going to be hard to micro... I do have a few strong EU pros though.

Pretty sure, once again, this isn't actually an amateur tournament. GL to all anyway.

The number of walkovers is ridiculous.

It's about standard, given the last couple of weeks. Free registration that opened 10 weeks ago will do that...
BTW, 3 out of 5 known Koreans showed up. Two qualified, and the other lost to one of those two in the final match of his bracket.
