I just had to log in to say that I love all of you. Best gaming community ever, It's rather fitting for this is the best game ever created. I've been a part of quite a few gaming communities, and the SC:BW one is by far the best. So I know what I'm talking about.
I first picked up this game back in 1998, loved it ever since. Got into the korean/forgein scene around 2004, took some long breaks now and then but kept coming back no matter what. SC:BW-4-EVER yO~~.
I'm really hoping that Blizzard is able to forge together another godsent game like SC:BW for us, godspeed to them~~. But at the moment, I think it's rather premature moving on to SC2 as for now. The game is not simply ready yet ^^, but I do understand that the South Korean community must join forces to this one commitment that is SC2 in order to get things to work out. It's just such a huge waste seeing active legends like FlaSh playing SC2. But now that it's over I'm thinking of quitting watching VOD:s/playing games. But just maybe I'll stick around, after all some of my favorite players are still around~~. I'm not bitter at all, SC:BW was well rooted in e-Sport so it stuck around for a real long time and I couldn't be more grateful because of it.
I'm gonna revisit some tournaments + see some classsic games, somebody should make an 'SC:BW matches worth revisiting thread' or something. Spoiler free and all, SC2 people would maybe even enjoy this. But could someone please make something like this?
I'm really glad that I got the opportunity to be a part of the true beginng of e-Sports, Godspeed South Korea on this new beginning of yours! And thanks to y'all for even making this possible! SC:BW~~ Love You Forever!

I didn't get into the BW scene until 2009. At that point my friends and I would always have LAN parties and try to have massive air battles with Carriers and Battlecruisers. Eventualy we grew out of that and one of my friends because my permanent practice partner during school because our teacher would let us play during the break. We tried to learn the current builds even though, we were still D-level. Nevertheless, because of playing BW a lot with my friend, our mechanics started to improve quickly towards the end, so when SC2 came out we got to diamond, when it was the highest league possible (BW FTW!) Today we even looked back at out BW replays to commemorate BW, and laughed at how we were so bad back then, and enjoyed the memories that flooded back to us. I will miss BW, and it will always have a place in my heart <3.

I didn't start to follow the pro scene and community until late 2007 unfortunately but I've done my research of the times I missed. I might not be a veteran but goddamnit the memories I have and the legacy it leaves is really amazing.
I didn't become a fan of the pro scene until around 2008/2009, when tasteless began casting for gom, and quickly lost interest after that. But recently I've begun watching the proleague, and I've seen the last 2 OSL finals (cheered for Jangbi both times, too!) SC2 is my main interest, but I'll never deny that BW is a breathtakingly good game, and deserves every bit of praise it gets. It makes me sad that with the OSL switching to SC2, and with the proleague continuing for a short time in this hybrid format, there is going to be almost no professional BW left.
What we need now is a dedicated server for archiving every vod, every reply available, and preserving as much information and history as we can so that when someone remembers this game, they can go back, find that amazing match, and watch it, or read up on the players involved.

The thing is, I was really stressed when I was in Junior High School/Middle School. As depressing as it sounds, Broodwar was the way out for me. It relieved my stress. I'll keep playing Broodwar to who knows when. Hell, I'll keep playing until there is no one left on ICCup or Fish. But... This is it... You have done a lot to me Broodwar. You will be leaving, but I can always say that you are welcome back anytime.

Really, all you guys sound like you are burning the disc and the rest of the internet is burning the servers and no-pros will play it ever again. Call be in denial, but I'm fairly sure you can still buy the game from Blizzard, and people can still play it at a professional level, sure the money wont be there (as if there ever was, really) but people still play Doom professionally. I mean c'mon guys you all sound like every disc or install is just gone now lolwut?
