Hey all, James Chen and I will be covering Persona 4 Arena tonight! If you're not familiar with the game, it's a new fighting game from the same company that made Guilty Gear and BlazBlue built on the Persona RPG/anime series. It'll be released officially in the US tomorrow August 7.
If you haven't seen us do this before for games like Skullgirls, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, and Soul Calibur 5, we ask people who know the games in depth to come and walk us through them. We cover the basics first and then get into more intermediate and advanced stuff, including in depth looks at individual characters and strategies. We try to be as comprehensive as we can and keep streaming until either we get too tired or there's nothing else to talk about.
We'll have a couple guests this time from both the production and player sides. One is Yu Namba, Project Manager at Atlus games, which is bringing P4A to the US. The other is James Xie, a well known player and commentator.
If you have any questions you'd like us to address on stream, please put them here or send them to us at ultrachentv@gmail.com! And if you'd like to watch, we'll be starting at 8pm Pacific time and going until question marks at http://twitch.tv/ultrachentv. Thanks! |

| Interesting. I've been watching a Persona stream this past week; so far the game looks legit to me. I'm not a FG expert though so I can't really tell whether the game has any shortcomings or weak points. Anyway I'll make sure to watch this. |

| I was going to make a P4A thread but haven't had time to put it together. Maybe I will put something up tonight if someone hasn't already. |

| You should PM a mod to ask if you can get it featured on the sidebar. Fuck it, there should be a FGC section on the sidebar, its not like it would take up much room. |

| I'm all for adding Ultrachen's broadcasts to the sidebar, because the content is high quality. i'm all for adding major tournaments too, but that's it. I think that if people want to watch the FG scene, they just have to open a new tab: there are plenty of dedicated websites. Besides, the FGC doesn't want to be associated with eSports. |

I got a question. I'm fan of the RPG series, but i'm not really interested in fighting games. will there be anything for me in this game, or it's still mainly a combat game with the RPG games style more than the opposite? (I hope i made my point clear, hard to express it ) |

| The game looks promising but I keep hearing the netcode on the xbox version is almost unplayable. I'll hold off buying this until they patch it, hopefully soon. |

The game is a fighting game that uses characters / universe of the Persona series.
If you're a fan of the series for the RPG mechanics, theres probably not much here. If you're a fan of the RPG for the story/universe, there is apparently a 30-40 story mode that is reportedly canon in the Persona universe. The story mode caters to beginners if they want to just get the story. (edit: afaik the story mode is just back to back battles with maybe some menu choices to determine path with dialog in between fights)

Considering the european release date is reportedly September 7th and they have already announced a patch for the netcode. The patch will probably be out before you have a chance to buy itLast edit: 2012-08-08 01:39:55 |

Thank you sir for your answer. I've checked a stream and the goody frantic fighting did remind me of the Guilty Gear series. I'll keep an eye on that, see if i can find it cheap. |

| Looked at it two weeks ago when it got released. Didn't like it...at all. And it doesn't help either that I think that after Persona 2: Batsu, the series went down the drain. So it's pretty sad to see the game being so popular right now. Hopefully that will fade, just like SFxT. The only good side is that it reduces the already really small player base of UMvC3 in Japan. Still makes me wonder how Kubo placed second in UMvC3 when he played P4A first on arcade and then on console almost all the time. |

If you didn't know, the game is developed by Atlus and Arc System Works (who made Guilty Gear) |
