Hello TL !
Long time lurker (reading since 2009), first time toaster. I'm a 25-year old, french (diamond-terrible but enthusiast) starcraft player. After 2 years without vacations, I'm finally taking a 2-weeks-long break. And of course it's in Korea ! Starting beginning of september. I'll be in a very small appartment downtown Seoul during the whole time.
First let me say TL community is amazing (ah, the live report @ work, stream page, liquipedia), and that i'm a little scared to actually post on the forum (to me, only ubergosus / bonjwas / banhammer-wielding semigods are allowed to post here). So if I did anything wrong, let me know !
I start this thread to :
1. Get help/insights on what to do in Seoul (sc-related or not, but mostly sc-related !) 2. Let you know how I intend to pay back all the awesome advice <3
About 1., I of course want to go to GOMTV's studio. Maybe also a few "barcades" (unsure what the korean word is) to watch games and whatnot. A K-pop concert would be nice, have to check prices on that (kinda low on budget since flights are "oh my god are you kidding-me"-priced).
About 2. , I want to buy a mechanical keyboard (<3) and get it signed by as many progamers as possible, i'll make sure to post the result. Also, I'll take some pictures and write a lenghty blog about the whole experience. Taking advices/requests on this of course ! It would be nice doing something for TL.
So, here we are. Do you have
1. Any advices on what to do during the trip ? 2. Any idea on what I could do to share it with TL ?
All help much appreciated ! Thanks a lot in advance.
P.S : Sorry for the terrible spelling/grammar/jokes P.P.S : Did I mention I love TL community ? <3 |

| @Jarzai : I think I got a pretty strong "you are very beautiful", "where is the nearest restaurant" and "i love you" (in korean). Not anything else tho :D |

| If it's only $700 round-trip that's EXTREMELY cheap. Round trips from the west coast US is at least $1,600 right now. |

not sure how you'll go finding bars to watch starcraft at here unless you're bringing an iPad or something with you. Seoul is a terribly uninteresting city imo especially if you aren't coming here to shop It depends how much you like buildings and places but i'm sure most things here you could find something comparable in your own city. Food is nice just wander around where ever you happen to be and look for a place with lots of people and go there I would recommend going to visit the DMZ because that IS something you won't see elsewhere (unless you go to the congo) Also hit hongdae bars up at night and meet some people. Everyone will speak at least basic english and you can meet ignorant foreigners or depressed foreigners depending how long they have been here If you are interested in history, artifacts etc check out http://wikitravel.org/en/Seoul |

Please, for the sake of my sanity, use the search function and Google. As I said last week, and every week before that since SC2 was released - this thread is made weekly. It's always the same. "I'm going to Korea! I did zero planning! What should I do?"
Effort in -> effort out. Put some time coming up with meaningful questions and then feel free to open a thread. "What should I do?" is not an example of a meaningful question. |
