It's been a long time I want to buy a mechanical keyboard and the time has come but I don't which of these three keyboards is the better : - steelseries 6gv2 - zowie celeritas - razer blackwidow
All the three have almost the same price and really don't know which one buy. If anyone has advice or experience for those keyboards, they are welcomed. Thanks in advance. |

| Why didn't you post this question into that thread instead of opening a new thread? |

| Because I was thinking about things like the customer support and the commentaries I've seen in the Mechanical Keyboard Guide thread are more technical questions. |

You should post this into the thread.
But to answer, you need to decide which switch you want, then find the keyboard with that switch.. So research that. |

I got a 6gv2 and many friends who have a blackwidow, we have done some swapping to try out stuff.
Seems to be that the 6gv2 is sooooo much more liked, and personally after feeling brown switches I would say go for th Zowie celeritas. |

| Blacks are kinda uncomfortable for the first time. I'd say the zowie. |

I see a lot of pro who aren't sponsored by Steelseries using the 6gv2 and it doesn't seem like it is uncomfortable for them. Are the black switches better even if they are uncomfortable for the first time? Actually the would be to try both ( since the blackwidow seems not so great and I'm not a fan of macro keys) but it is impossible for me... |

The hardware battle is actually pretty much over, razer is dead.
Beyond that, look into what kind of switches you want. It's completely legitimate to just not like mx blacks. |

What do you mainly do on the computer? RTS games? FPS games? Typing? Browsing, etc.
FPS games: Black Switches: require the most pressure but in FPS games you're not going crazy APM and holding keys down. Very hollow sounding, but only if you're going crazy on it.
RTS games: Brown Switches: seem to be the preference. less pressure than black more pressure than blue. The middle ground switch. A slight tactile touch and sound, not as noticeable as blue.
Typing: Blue Switches: the least amount of pressure required, a typists dream. Also has a very clear tactile touch and clicking noise when keys are pressed. If you don't think you'll like quite a bit of sound coming from your keys everytime you type or live with roommates, blue switches can be problematic.
EDIT:
Oh the big issue with the BlackWidow (for me when I used it) can be the weird placement of the F-keys. Its different from the standard layout. The macro keys aren't really that big of an issue since you're probably not going to use them anyways.
You might want to try to consider the SteelSeries 6Gv2 RED edition, which comes with Red switches instead of Black. If you can find it, I know there were sold at DreamHack.
QPAD is beginning to release a line of mechanical keyboards in all kinds of switches.
TteSports will also be releasing a PRIME-branded mechanical keyboard with Brown switches in addition to their existing line of Black switch keyboard.Last edit: 2012-08-08 00:58:31 |

| Thanks a lot for your post but I'm swiss ; ) From what I've seen I think I'll go for the zowie because of the brown switches. I've in several post and website that it is the best for RTS and I'm playing only sc2. |

| I have the blackwidow. It's the only mechanical I've ever used, but even though, I do really like the blacks. It's a great keyboard, but I don't really care for the extra macro keys on the side. I thought that even if I'll never use them, it's nice to have options. As it is, I find them to be sort of in the way. Going back, I would probably go with the steelseries. |

| If you decide to go for the 6gv2 go for the red switches insted of the boack ones, they are suppost to be awsome. |

| The Steelseries 6gv2 is a pretty awesome keyboard. I can fully reccomend it! In comparison to the Zowie you´ll also save about 40 bucks. |

| I first had the Razer Black Widow but a key broke and i decided to get the 6Gv2 instead. And i have to say i dont regret that decision at all. I found the extra keys the Black Widow has more annoying then helpful and the black switches are better gaming switches imo. You only have to train some days to get used to the high resistance of the keys. |
