Well, blizz just posted a preview of some of the general changes that will be making it into the 1.04 patch later on (a few week apparently).
I have taken the liberty of summarizing them for you:
-Remove party averaging of Magic and gold find
-Nerf monster scaling for parties
-Slight buff to normal enemies, tuning
-Normal enemies chance to drop magic/rare X4
-Slight nerf to Elites, and tuning affixes
-Level 61 and 62 weapons can roll level 63 damage (aren't guaranteed crap)
-Buff 2handers
-Remove enrage timer and heal to full on elites
-Reduce repair costs
-Legendary item changes (info not released yet)
-Lots of skill changes to make more viable options (WD summons)
-Removal of Invulnerable Minions
These changes look decent for the most part, skill tuning is always great, and I'm hopeful for the legendaries getting some character. But i'm not really sure if any of these will actually turn the game into what it should be, and not something I havent even been motivated to open in two weeks to sell my remaining 40$ worth of items.
For one thing, people complain about never finding upgrades or decent weapons, so now they are increasing the drop rate a ton just like the community demanded....
This will not help.
Its like a country with massive inflation where nobody can afford bread, you cant just print more money. Now people are whining about not finding 1000+dps weapons with crit, after the patch everyone will have one and now they will complain that they never find any upgrades and nobody ever finds weapons with 1200dps and crit. Its the auction house and the fact that items never leave the game that creates this issue, not the drop rates. You could make every weapon that dropped 1000+ dps and still people would feel bad about never finding an upgrade, because 1400+ would become the new norm, and people would refer to 1100dps weapons as vendor trash.

i haven't played d3 for about 2 months now. sadly i am not missing it *tears* because there's nothing else to do really. the changes look good, and yeah invulnerable affix is really stupid. i'll probably play again once the patch rolls through.
a little off topic: one thing i dont understand is why there are no differences between the difficulties. it would have been nice if each difficulty adds something extra to the game. like an extra boss to kill, extra map to go through, extra game content or cg. that would've given people more motivation to go through all difficulty levels. |

So... they pretty much allow full MF/no stats char to leech a party? And... seriously, no more heal or enrage on elites?? If the game wasn't too easy already...
I just hope.. I don't understand "Nerf monster scaling for parties" correctly... does it mean that monster will be as hard in 1 player mode than 4 player?
Just so sad to keep nerfing Inferno, I though it was supposed to be hard... |

As a hardcore player I won't mind if they nerf inferno a bit- I want a challenge but there's only so many times I can do the 1-60 grind especially with quest xp getting nerfed so hard. You're right that it's way too easy on softcore, but in reality any game will be too easy no matter what when dying is almost inconsequential. |

Monsters gain 75% hp more for every other player in the party.
Full MF leech... nothing different from the actual 0%MF leeches. The main difference remains between playing with friends and playing with random leeches. I mean, players.
I don't agree with the general nerf, but I guess act III should be more interesting after 1.0.4. I absolutely hate killing hordes of 500k hp normal mobs without reward (yeah, that's act III in a few words), post-patch at least their droprate will be 4x.

I really like everything but they really need something else bigger before 1.1 and even then unranked 4v4 PvP is not the kind of thing that will keep players forever.
We want something like ladder, infinite dungeons, lvls after 60, ranking leaderboard in-game etc.... |

The MF change is awesome. I never really did public games but felt semi annoyed carrying my lesser geared casual buddies, but will be fine with it if my MF says with me. Upping normal mob drops is the best way to discourage MF swapping anyways. The nerf to retarfed packs is nice as lately when I get vortexed into a box with arcane frozen orbs I kind of want to uninstall.
And 61-63 weapons being good is a win-win. Now upgrades will focus on stats! |

I think Inferno will be nerfed enough with the removal of the invulnerable affix, and the reworking of the firechain affix. No need to nerf it more than that. Co-op now makes Inferno even easier. Buffing trash mobs to make inferno a bit more difficult is nice, but 5-10% hp buff isn't going to be that noticeable.
So basically some decent fixes to the item-hunt aspect of the game, and the skills rework sounds promising, but the lack of an endgame won't be addressed till after 1.1 unfortunately.

Doesn't really fix any of the issues' I have with the game. The level design is still boring and simple and not random. Still stuck like a barnacle to the story in all its linear glory, pick an arbitrary point in this "quest", every boss before that point is dead, ever waypoint ahead of that point is disabled. Still boring characters, maybe I'm the minority but I prefer having stats and skills to allocate. I enjoyed building characters in D2, all of that was removed in favor of D3's "pick a class'. Takes about a day and a half to go from 1-60, there's no extra growth potential after that , just boring items that all concentrate on the same stats. Still no PvP and even when they do add "arena" that's nothing I want to play, I prefer playing games with my friends not some random jackass' that it matches you with in yet another 'que' system. On that subject, there is still no create / browse/ join games at your own leisure , you are at the mercy of 'the system' to find a random group for you.
Patch does nothing for me, still a disappointing boring game. |

goddamn, gotta farm as much as I can and profit before 1.0.4 hits...
Oh and, great timing by Blizzard as always, airing these just after a huge security compromise Last edit: 2012-08-11 02:27:32 |

My post has nothing to do with difficulty. So if you have a point you wanted to make then make it.
If I was complaining about "the game is too hard" or, "I want more items with slightly more of the same stats" then I would probably love this patch. I gave my opinion on why this patch isn't going to bring a player like me back, because the core problem with the game is that it is just boring. It took an already repetitive genre and makes it feel even more repetitive because of the things I mentioned in my post above.Last edit: 2012-08-11 02:33:14 |

| As a wd i feel like their 'alpha testing' team finally ACTUALLY play in the inferno mode. Everything sounds good to me, encourage teamplay (seriously no one on my friendlist play this game anymore and there is no point in playing coop), improve wd summons (hopefully), removing enraging timer and invulnerable minions, all making the game acceptable for the poor wd class players. |

Yeah, whine about everything under the sun. Might as well go play a different game. |
