Hello guys. Back when Dota-Academy was only an idea and when we were collecting feedback from casters, one of them told us that we should make a fantasy game.
Here is the first Dota 2 fantasy league.
This is the result of hours and hours of work, both coding the site and keeping the game database updated (the current API is not good enough, so all the data needs to be loaded manually). The site would never exist without the support of the community. We launched dota-academy on a very weak server that was quickly destroyed at launch. Thanks to Dreamhack, now we have a really good server.
It's very easy to join the league, you just need a Steam account.
Read the FAQ to understand how it works. The league will oficially start at The International 2. Until then, you're free to toy with the site and build your team. If you find any bugs, please let us know ASAP.
Also, if you know any organizations that would like to sponsor us (because it would be awesome to give a prize to the winner), contact us. |

Looks great, so far the only problem I had was your server not redirecting to Steam Login on the first try (A simple refresh is all that it took.) Not sure if thats a problem on your end or not, but thought I would go ahead and report it. Other than that nice job guys  |

| Assembling my team is pretty grief, every time I buy a player, I get Internal Server Error, this is generally fixed after a refresh or two, but still, every time is very annoying |

I signed up; well put together, but yeah there are server issues or something. Is it too much traffic load or something?

Main dude from DA posted this on r/dota2 about pricing.
"Pricing was really fun!
I grabbed lots of people from the community (I won't drop any names, in case someone disagrees with the pricing!), and asked them to rank players from 1 to 4, where 1 was best, and 4 was worst. Based on the average I obtained a price (Dendi being the De facto best player at $2M).
Then I looked at player stats in their last 10 games, and tweaked the prices up and down depending on that.
PGG was the perfect example of a player that was somewhat average ranked (especially due to the fact that he likes to go full support these days) and his recent games were so terrible that he dropped quite a lot to that $400k."

| Dota 2 is actually much better for "Fantasy" games than real football I think, since the stats are more accurate. Great website btw. |

Sounds like fun, gonna get a team goin. For the record chrome doesnt work 100% with your website unfortunately.
Also question since i dont really know how these things work. Is it worth getting more than 5 players? Or do you just get points for the first 5 or whatever?Last edit: 2012-08-11 20:12:40 |
