Hey TL ,I'm relatively new to the DotA 2 scene. I played HoN at a good level ( 1840 MMR ) Basically, I want to know which site is the most popular in the DotA 2 scene.ie: TL for SC2, Solomid for LoL etc... I've seen dotahut but the content on the site seem a bit odd. There's not much going on in terms of actual good contents and the forum is just inexistent.

I'm searching for a good forum where people talk about actual strategy at a competitive level, giving good tips / guides about heroes ( not the guides that you see on dotahut made to pubstomp at low level ) and that has an awesome community. I know , I'm asking a lot but usually these type of forums are pretty rare (ie TL) . I'd really appreciate finding a good site for DotA 2 since it's my second game played most (right after SC2). As I said, i'm relatively good in HoN so it won't be hard making the switch to DotA 2. I've heard many pros from HoN found the switch insanely easy and that you just have to play a lot to be used to the different engine of DotA 2.

TL;DR : What's the most popular community site for DotA 2?

GosuGamers
joinDOTA
r/Dota2

There are many many others, like prodota, sgamer, etc. And TL will eventually start giving Dota 2 a lot more attention (right, TL?)

gg.net and joindota.com are the biggest actual sites.

in my opinion they're crappy and i hope a better site overtakes them as the main site for dota2 information

gg.net might be the best one but they honestly have the worst layout I've ever seen.

it depends on what you are looking for.
if you are a new players, looking for guides and shit, playdota.com is the place to go.
If you are intimidiate, go /r/dota2 for a bit better contents.
Joindota and gosugamers are sites to keep track of tournaments, their community side is pretty much shit and shouldnt be taken seriously.
NADotA or any other IH leagues forum are often just circle of jerks, d-bags fill with inside jokes. Strongly recommend if you have experience playing the game at competitive level and knowing people from pro-scene.

Teamliquid probably the best to get some quality discussion around since we do have a strong moderation rule to eliminate the trolling factors. The cons is that the input often come from a mix of audience which leave it to you to decide whether the info is useful or not. Often high post-counts is a sign of quality-posts from exxperienced members but dont trust it too much :-/.

And ofc, dev forum for technical issues.

Honestly I think TL is the best site for dota. The Playdota and Joindota forums have some of the worst communities I have ever seen. Haven't read gosugamers though. I agree with NB, TL is the best place to get quality discussion going.

If you're just getting into the game, playdota.com should have the necessary guides and information about heroes and items. You can also consider checking out the dota 2 wiki for simple stuff such as item lists and costs, hero skills, etc.

To learn how competitive players play the game, you'll probably have to watch VODs of pro matches and copy the item build, which you can find at joindota or on Youtube.

I agree that the TL Dota2 community, while small, probably has the best discussion around.

gg.net is terrible.

nadota.com used to be good until they started having a semblance of serious moderation and more new dota2 posters, i used to get a lot of entertainment from that website, now it's just ok, though it probably wont be useful at all as an actual dota site.

So basically, teamliquid should expand their Dota 2 section since there is a void to fill with a go-to place for some quality discussion.

Then they just need a professional roster and they're set as a major esports site for a long time.

If you want to have a serious discussion about something in the game, then TL is the best. All the other forums I've been to were full of trolls.

TL is exactly what you're searching for, though we have few guides.
Who's more perfect - Florence Welch or Lindsey Stirling? Yes.

TL is good for LR threads and small discussions. However the community feels smaller than other sites like ggnet or joindota. But it also means a lot less trash talk ^^.

JoinDOTA and ggnet is full of morons. Don't use them. TL and reddit are the only sane DotA communities.
More laws, less justice.
