Hello community,
i just started playing SC2 and finished my placement matches. I was put in silver league 1v1 and gold league 2v2 but on mistake cause some ppl dropped out on me or the dude in 2v2 was good enough to take both down almost alone. Now i have to play all these gold, diamond, platinum players which is no fun because i always lose and get BM'd. Losing takes away some points from my ladder ranking yes, but often enough someone drops out and i get like +44 points so im right back where i started if not even placed higher. I'm stuck and i have no fun at all and i'm not learning anything. What can i do? I heard if i just leave games Blizzard might/will take action.
Thanks in advance, PoolSharK
PS: Why is everybody so bad mannered towards noobs in SC2? I always get insulted and stuff. It's like the total opposite to this community here where everyone is pretty nice and helpful. |

Just ignore the bad mannered guys and enjoy the game. Points don't matter, look up for how the ladder works. If you lose 5 games and win 1 even though you're almost at the same points, you are not at the same MMR (match making rating) as before. Check this : Battle.net Leagues |

| because when it comes to the actual game people tend to show their dark side. It's pretty normal though don't worry to much about the bm! |

Ignore your "ladder points", they don't have much to do with who you are matched against. You will need to play a good amount of games before the ladder lowers your MMR (which is a secret hidden number that actually determines who you are matched against) then you will be matched against people more your level.

| Also remember that it's important to focus on your play itself, rather than your ladder points. If you do this, your account will go up in rank accordingly. =] |

| Blizzard doesn't care if you intentionally lose games, btw. So if you feel you really should be playing people worse than you currently are that might be an option for you. There's different reasons people might want to lower their MMR such as if they want to try a different race. |

| yeah don't worry about the BM. And when it comes to you playing higher league players! Just take it as it comes and you will be placed in the leagues/divisions where you belong eventually. It wont take that long! Just play and have fun! If you see someone BM'ing you just /ignore him or her |

I haven't seen anybody explain in detail and calm your worries.
Your 1v1 rating and 2v2 rating are largely unrelated. Though it is thought that having high rating might affect your initial placement in a new league, there is no relationship beyond that.
If you got placed in silver and keep playing gold players, its because the rating system thought you were probably bottom gold but your lost 1 too many games to fit there, so it put you in silver.
The best thing you can do for yourself is just ignore your rating and play like 50 games. By that point, you will have found your realistic MMR and should be playing people very close to your level constantly.
Tldr: if you're playing people above your rating, its because the match making system thinks your good enough and will probable promote you soonLast edit: 2012-08-12 07:59:16 |

| Another thing you might consider is just running some games against an AI or a build order tester map. Improving your macro benchmarks can really help your game, and you don't have to deal with people flaming you in game. There are guides all over the place, but you can also just watch a favorite streamer and see where he is in terms of supply relative to the game clock. When you get used to playing with goals for yourself instead of just "win on ladder" you will probably improve faster. |

1 - Ignore the BM. Don't ever respond, just say your glhf and your gg and ignore everything else. What do you care. You will never meet these people. It's just an AI programmed to throw you off with random offensive text strings.
2 - You always learn more playing against better players. While it will sap your motivation, you will definitely learn more playing against golds than you will messing around with bronzies. Get what you can out of it while you are there.

| if your opponents are outmatching you that much then tank some games until it balances out. blizz doesn't really care unless you are tanking like 400 games in a row. |

If you don't enjoy the game, then don't force yourself to play it. There are plenty of other games out there. |

Just gnore the gold players bm'ing you, if it makes you feel any better they are also completely worthless and does EVERYTHING wrong. Also remeber that the best way to improve is to play people that are better then you and then watch the replay to check why they won. Remeber to not take things to seriously and just have fun!!

I am in masters and more than 50% of my wins finish with bm and insults... thats just reality of sc2 ladder and insanity this game causes in people brains. You need to: 1. Realize its a game. 2. Grow a pair. 3. Click find match no matter what the brain is telling you. Don't fear the ladder. |

Team games are worse than 1v1 in my experience.
Unless you really enjoy team games, I find they are less fun because of the reasons you stated (matchmaking mismatches, bad mannered players). |

Instantly f11 and mute the other person. It's pretty much the only way to ladder if you're not in the mood to be called a faggot every other game.
It's kinda sad that it came to this, but it's what I usually do. |

I'm masters now on NA and EU. From my experience, platinum was the nicest and least BM 1v1 ladder experience. High masters tends to be a big improvement over diamond/low masters too.
So I wouldn't say the BM is exclusive to lower league players, I've seen plenty of GMs get BMed as well. |

The reason for the BM, while rude, is that in a 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 match, one player's lack of ability can affect the outcome of the match - and no one likes to lose, especially when it was not their own doing.
Your skill will increase over time, and you will get better at a variety of builds and strategies, and that just takes time and matches - sometimes hundreds of them. For some it comes faster, and some slower.
Comparing your 1v1 to team play rankings is unimportant. 1v1 has to deal with a variety of strategy, including macro games, as where team games are largely based on speed and fast power builds to eliminate one of the other opponents early on to gain an advantage in a very fast mid game. As such, a 2v2 type build rarely works in a 1v1, as a 2v2 strategy often involves having a partner to bolster the early push to kill a single opponent. |
