Mid game massive unit for zerg?

So, while watching a PvZ i thought of something that was very interesting.

There is literally no counter to mass (good) forcefields for zerg, they get crushed.

In IPL TAC3 finals, i literally watched as 2 essential pylons were saved from destruction via forcefields, i watched as the zerg army was chopped in two and wiped out. (albeit from zerglings XD)

And what counter does zerg have? i wonder..but i think there is none short of late game mass remax / broodlords.

I feel a new midgame unit (after 12 minutes in a "resonable" game) that is MASSIVE is needed. Something that is able to break those forcefields after a protosses timing pushes / all ins (4 gate, 6 gate, 7/9 min pushes) or able to counter them if scouted and rushed early enough.

I mean, this is a huge change-ish, but something i feel should be considered for HOTS. Zergs literally have no answer to good forcefields,

Something thats able to help break through those forcefields in the midgame could help exponentially with this problem.

It should probably be ranged, because a melee unit that breaks forcefields is just OP.

Thoughts everyone? im slightly drunk atm but i tseems like a valid point atm (but im drunk so -> blog)

Good idea! I think making roaches massive would do the trick.

that would be completely OP. The only true options are Queens and Infestors. personally i think queens would be a better option s they'll help defensively (sentry+prism ramp forcefields all-ins) but they wouldn't be of much use offensively until you have either a decent creep spread or nydus or drops.

For clarification, im a silver protoss and i have no problems with zerg because i can place decent forcefields (not that i win them all, or play all that often anymore), so this isnt out of Q.Q ( i used to be high plat terran before i lacked motivation xD ) its more of a contemplation

LOL just use flanks and control your army to bait out forcefields.

as long as youre not at a choke they run out quicker than you think

besides unless the zerg is going for a very specific timing he should be winning the matchup with hive tech anyways

Watching IPL? Seen mass sentry before?

Its literally 2 seconds between seeing your opponent and boxing your army in with forcefields effectively when your fast enough (diamond + pretty much)

Its just an idea, i dont know why everyone seems so passive aggressive xD

This was going to be what I was going to say... I think it is just important to not get yourself into situations where a forcefield can completely screw you over as zerg. I think a massive unit in the early - mid game for zerg would make it very very difficult to play as a protoss.

The fact is, forcefields are imbalanced in a good way. If Zerg had a way to cancel out forcefields 12 minutes in, it would be overpowered as shit. I mean, could you imagine a delayed Stephano style that maxxes out on Roach/Ling/ForcefieldBreaker at 12:30? Maybe even faster with a build designed to get it out fast? Without forcefields, you would just straight up die. Forcefields are so powerful because they have to be. Try playing against mass roach/ling without forcefields. You'll just die.

Salivanth has it correct. Without forcefields, protoss straight out dies to a zerg with decent macro who can make roaches. They are outright vital to protoss in almost all of the matchups (PvT and PvZ definately) because otherwise the other army will just stutter into the protoss units and kill them there and then.
