I was wondering how do you guys overcome fear, anxiety, anger while you are laddering? If anyone succeeded in that let us know or give us some tip!
For me personaly, when I reach my top (currently top diamond) i play much less coz of the anxiety from win or loss.
1 thing that works for me is to intentionaly leave few ladder games, just start-leave-start-leave, to get reminded myself that it's just a game and nothing will happen if you lose. It's like slapping myself.
If you are too angry to be able to play properly, just take a break, do something else whatever. About ladder anxiety just play with good music and it's all fine.

I don't really understand ladder fear, are you affraid to be placed against people from your own level? Because thats essentially what ladder fear is.. The Blizzard ladder is designed that you play against people from your own level, if you are not yet at the level of high diamond, you will lose. But thats only a sign that you are not ready yet.
By textually abusing my opponent. I then don't care anymore because I vent my frustrations.
I'm honestly(seriously) surprised that I haven't made it into the Funny/Confusing BM thread on multiple occasions.
I have no anxiety, but I'm competitive minded. You shouldn't care about losing. Having fun is your goal. For those of us that are fucked in the head, winning is the only fun aspect apart from epic games. Press that button enough and you'll stop having anxiety. Smurfing actually cured my anxiety, though I don't advise it.

At least thats how I look at it.
No, I like to play with better people. Right now I only play custom game, 60-70% are all master league and it's 50-50 win loss, and I dont care that much about it. I guess those -11, +15 , like school system affects people. It's not fear for me, more of an anxiety. I don't like to lose. I guess I am competitive, emotional and with ego. I am not exactly shure why there is anxiety.
@memcpy Thanks for the articles, really interesting.

I used to get ladder fear really really bad, like I would end up with twenty total games at the end of a season and I would be happy with that. What I did to overcome this, I played in a tourney!, the feeling of something on the line bigger than ladder points scared me to death! I ended up losing my 1st tourney( a Playhem) by getting crushed by TSL.Inori in the 2nd round, and ladder after that has never seemed that bad.

I think it's just that you like your MMR/ratio and are afraid to lose it by playing. Like if you go 3-1 from the getgo you'll start fearing launching a game again because you risk up losing or something.

Grubby once told exactly the same thing. When you start playing tournaments you don't have ladder anxiety.
after the match, someone go to my profil and laugh off me about my skill or whatever. Only in RTS games. In FPS or other where i am much worse than RTS I dont have ladder anxiety.
In my opinion, nobody has the right to watch my profil. And last week, Blizzard opened the Diablo3 profil so that everyone can see other profiles, D3 is dead for me now.

My fear stems from always wanting perfection in my games.. I know, it's stupid.. just a game, but to me, it is a very real fear. I know my capabilities very well and losing to me is not a relevant issue; really, I don't mind - I'm always optimistic about learning, and I definitely know where I stand.
Saying that, I still take 1v1 very seriously.. I think it's because I'm a hopeless pedantic; I absolutely brood over efficiency.. so to even allow people to touch my hard work, I get anxious. I'm always thinking someone's going to ruin my sand castle.. but that's part of the struggle in RTS.. so I have no idea why I even have to think. Please don't say that I don't have fun in this game and shouldn't play it - quite the opposite.
With regards to the OP, I think I've tried all the methods to press that worthless button.. so.. the answer to fear & anxiety is still not in my purse. Though, I do know the answer to anger - very simple and cliche: walk away; talk to somebody you know that is incapable of making you angry. I, personally, talk to my pet
I apologize if my post seemed Blog-y... just wanted to vent a little.
concentrate on the game. don't give a fuck against whom youre up or if this costs you ladder points. Ladder points are really useless as an indicator as the Ladder is only a mask covering the actual state of your game (MMR).
Play the game to get better and not to get better than someone else. A win with you making mistakes is no reason to feel great. A loss with you playing nearly perfectly is an occasion to celebrate!
Or, as Meshuggah would put it:
hmm... i expected this to turn out quite differently... oO || join the StarDust Fanclub today!
when i am on a losing streak i just keep playing, if i quit playing i will be so mad but if i just keep playing it goes fine, so just keep press find match :D

Just random it up and do whatever you feel like, I am trying carriers in pvp (doesn't work) reapers in t v anything (doesn't work) and roaches in z v anything (works kinda). It is not making me a better player but it is fun.
If only I was smart enough to write something clever.
