I won't lie that the sensationalist title was what caught my attention.
From the kitchen, to the wall. Til the sweat drips from my palms til all these noobs fail click click click motherfucker click click click god damn!
Back on topic: Culture and societal expectation is huge. Gaming among females in East Asia is actually pretty prevalent (at least in China where I am currently). In NA, it is usually not as common to see girl gamers because gaming and feminity are not seen as compatible in the local culture.
Girls should not get more attention than guys in gaming. If a girl is a good player in a game, she should get positive attention. But just because you are a girl, and you play games, doesnt mean you get to demand my respect. I'll shit talk to any girl just as much as i do anyone else. If they dont like it, or if they dont want to play games because of people that talk shit about girls, then they should find a new hobby, or grow a thicker skin. That's all i have to say.

Well considering the strange voice used in the video the content seemed surprisingly truthful if somewhat harsh. Weird video overall but it brought up some interesting points even if they're not quite as universal as the creator made it seem.

The 3 main points described by the guy in the video are complete garbage. Everything about the video is complete garbage. While there are a lot of really annoying female gamers, there are also a lot of really annoying male gamers who just don't get the same kind of attention because they are male. I can't tell you how many times I've witnessed angry male magic players talking trash on other peoples' decks and raging when they got unlucky with a draw. This of course is my parallel to the girl gamers who were complaining about the sexism in the street fighter game. Also, why can't there be games that appeal to a more hardcore audience and games that appeal to a casual audience? The more consumers there are, the more niches there are for game developers to exploit and make money off of.
I've met about 3 or 4 girl gamers in my life and they've seemed like perfectly alright people who aren't bad to play with at all. This fear of female gamers is just sexism plain and simple..

The part that really got my attention was the part about hypoagency. I don't have anything near a degree in psychology, but its been my experience in the gaming world that women don't simply exist in a situation such as men do. They tend to bend established but foreign environments around them instead of assimilation to the held ideals. And it's the fault of both genders. It takes one to give and one to recieve attention. I am on the side of the established environment though. It seems unfair to have to change an accepted norm to accomdate an invidual, regardless of gender, unless said norm is actually harmful to a humans well being (ie - slavery)
I thought the video was well thought out, and backed up a lot of the more contradictory statements with research. (You can see the URLs if you pause the video.) Very interesting indeed.

It is interesting indeed. Do check out GirlWritesWhat's material. It's pretty good. She is a very smart woman. You may want to check out the Man, Woman & Myth documentary series (www.manwomanmyth.com) as well for similar material.
