Edit:
I HAVE AN ISSUE!
My computer is only running on one video card when It has two video cards! (How do I change that!!!) I want to solve one problem at a time!
I want to solve that problem FIRST!
Okay, now stop throwing blame at any other reasons why my computer is underperforming, and if you know how to tell me how do I make them both run?
If you don't know how to do it, please don't throw conversation topic changes into the mix... (No offence ofc you are all awesome for trying to help me)
Please I only want to solve one problem at a time!
Information:
+ Show Spoiler +Well there was a problem a couple of days ago where my computer was running on integrated graphics, I disabled that so it runs on the dedicated graphics card.
I have a Alienware m18xR1 laptop.
Everything was working fine and dandy when in the middle of a LoL game frames started dropping to thirty Frames per/s on full graphics from 65 Frames per/s. This has been stuck like that ever since so I can't run on full graphics anymore. I checked and device manager and saw I am still running on the dedicated graphics card so that had not changed.
Just checked and all my drivers are updated (I checked in device manager(don't know if that matters))
Now I just plain old can't run Witcher 2, a game I have been waiting to play, and I would appretiate it if you could/would help.
Once again here are my specs.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
OS Name : Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Total Virtual Memory: 15,9 GB
Available Virtual Memory: 12,5 GB
Total Physical Memory: 7,95 GB
Available Physical Memory: 4,94 GB
DirectX 11
Memory: 8192 RAM
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series (What appears in display adapters)
And then windows rating of my computer:
Processor: 7.5
Memory(RAM): 7.9
Graphics: 7.6
Gaming Graphics: 7.6
Primary hard disc: 5.9
Please help! Last edit: 2012-08-31 10:01:23 |

There are a few things you could do, have you checked the temperatures under load or run any tests? Its possible your GPU is dusted up and needs a clean, or other fan intakes are too dusty.

If you have cleared the dust, it might be the thermal paste needs to be replaced. Mine has the same problem (different laptop, but i5 with same issue) and the paste needs to be replaced and the cpu. I have overheated the cpu too many times |

Doesn't Vsync just cap the frame rate? Like so you don't like go up to 100 frames per second?
But thats not the problem, the problem is that my computer has gotten slower, for some reason. And it just happened suddenly while in a LoL game. |

Run HWMonitor. Then run a game for a bit. Then check maximum CPU and GPU core temps.

Vsync synchronizes the output with the refresh rate of your monitor so that parts of different frames arent displayed, just one whole frame. |

Vsync caps the framerate to specific values most of the time, so if you're constantly generating above 60fps, it will lock it at 60, but once you drop to 50s it commonly locks to 30fps (which is terrible).Last edit: 2012-08-19 14:14:59 |

you prolly just hit the touch button that turns on/off super beast mode for ur cpu. i used to do that all the time when i had my m15x and it's annoying.
edit: it's the button next to command center (touch button) if i recall correctly. i'm 100% this is your problemLast edit: 2012-08-19 18:57:53 |

How do I see if that is what's going on and if it is going on, how could I fix it.
*Note that I would prefer to keep Vsync, but just to have it at around 60*

Power button
De- volume In- volume Mute button Rewind or play previous track Play or Pause Fast forward or play next track Eject Wireless control center Alienware command center.
There is no super beast mode button, xD

| And when I went to autoconfigure graphics in witcher 2, it put my graphics to low, so I doupt that it actually is overheating due to dust. |

hmm, sounds like possibly your graphics card has cut out, have you tried re-installing the drivers for it from the AMD website? A full clean re-install might help
