Hi
I just reapplied thermal paste to my CPU fan, and I when I attempted to start streaming, my usual frame rate of 100-125 had dipped to 40, and was getting lower as the game went along. So I opened up Speccy, but the CPU didn't seem to be running hotter than usual (about 75c). My graphics card was running at about 56 c, which seems kinda hot. Everything else seemed normal. Specs below
Intel i7 2600k @ 3.4 ghz (not overclocked) GTX 460 Graphics Card ( i run on all low settings, however) ASUS Mobo 8 gigs of ram
I appreciate the help in advance. Thanks!

EDIT: Running xsplit with a 1920x1080 monitor, streaming 1280x720 and 45 fps. Last edit: 2012-08-19 13:18:00 |

56C is nothing for a graphics card, and it'd be a lot higher if you weren't running on low.
Intel chips mostly seem to throttle at around 80C these days, so 75C is dangerously close to that. If that's a "normal" temperature, then you should improve your cooling.

It used to run fine before I reapplied the paste, and It would run 100 fps all game long. What could have happened between then and there?

GPU has a hand in FPS as well.
75C is too much. Are you running stock cooler for some reason?
Also this sounds like a low performance problem. Not frame lag. Frame lag would be if everything on screen felt really milky, slow, and behind.Last edit: 2012-08-19 13:48:09 |

| I am running the cooler that came with the computer, if that is what you mean by stock. I haven't had any trobules with it up until this point. |

Some suggestions:
1. Too much paste. 2. Didn't clean original paste. 3. Foreign objects in the paste. 4. Didn't push hard enough when re-mounting the heatsink.

Yup, 75C with stock cooler is ridiculous, definitely reapplied wrongly. |

| I have checked all those steps and nothing still seems to be doing the trick. Im still running 80 C + when streaming and playing SC2, and I can't even stream right now whereas it used to be fine. Ugh this is so frustrating. |
