Red Bull LAN Seattle

The Red Bull LAN Seattle kicks off August 30 through September 1 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Eliza Anderson Amphitheater, adjacent to the PAX show at the Seattle Convention Center. PAX 2012 attendees will have the unprecedented opportunity to participate in this latest LAN incarnation, part pro-gaming exhibition, part audience-interaction experiment.

Taking place each evening from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. PST, the Red Bull LAN Seattle debuts a never-before-seen map designed as a collaboration between Red Bull, Blizzard Entertainment and Sean “Day[9]” Plott, transforming Blizzard’s global eSports flagship StarCraft® II into an insane interactive obstacle course. Eight elite pro players will virtually scrimmage in front of a live audience that has the power to wreak havoc on their most masterful strategies.

Fans from around the world will be able to witness this innovation in live gaming by tuning into the live stream each night of the event at www.RedBullUSA.com/LAN.

So, this is a bit weird. From the sounds of it this won't be a normal Starcraft 2 tournament but some kind of custom game competition. No mention of invites vs qualifiers to decide who the players are, but with such a small player pool we can probably assume it will be invites.

It also sounds like the live audience will be able to impact the games somehow, interesting stuff!

Can't wait! I really think SC2 could use some innovation now going into the end of WoL, it's been kind of stale lately (to me at least).

For the love of god people who plan and throw events, let us know more than 2 weeks ahead of time. I live in oregon and this is the closest a event will be to me, and I can't go because its not enough time to get things off and what not. Guess it will just be another stream for me

From the sound of it, it's only open to people with PAX tickets. Which sold out back in May.

Edit: I'm having trouble finding the topic but he made a topic saying he would pay someone to create a map where the audience could vote to grant favors or penalties to the players. Such as limiting the kind of units that could be created. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
