Hey all,

About half a year ago, there was a league called the Ruthless Fighter league. It was a league for Platinum and under players, and required each team to have a player from each league on it's team.

Matches were a bo9, each team puts out their Bronze player first and just like every other team league, the winner stays and the loser puts out their Silver player. If the silver lost, they sent out their Gold.

After three weeks of cool games, and poorly organized matches/events, the league closed. I think this is an incredible shame.

For those unfamiliar with the old league, check this out.

I'd love to bring this back, and organize it. Hire a few other admins to help me take on the load (as I won't have time to be on 24/7, and a league run by one person is a mistake.)

Before we relaunch it, I wanted to have an open discussion with those who took part it in last time, and those that want to take part in it this time around.

My questions to you are:

1. How should teams be organized?
-- a. Everyone signs up, randomly select players from each division to fill out teams.
-- b. Have a recruitment thread, teams pick their players and allow them to join as a team. Fill up teams who lack players.
-- c. Some other form of having teams join.

2. How many from each division should we have?
IMO, Minimum of 1 Bronze, Silver and Gold, 2 Platinums. Teams can have more than that if they want (and should have subs)

3. How should a match be organized? What happens if a bronze player can't make it?
IMO, Bo9, Bronze vs Bronze to start, then Bronze vs Silver, and so on until a player loses... if a team can't supply a Bronze player to start, they take a forfeit for game 1 and put in their silver.

4. Should we have a prize?
I can try to find a sponsor to put up a small amount of money for it... however, this promotes smurfing, and I really just want a league that Bronze-Gold players can partake in for fun.

5. I'd like to organize it this way, thoughts?
32 teams - Split into groups of 4, Winners get a bye, 2nd place team advances to brackets. Double elimination.
16 teams - Split teams into groups of 4. Top 2 advance to the single elim brackets.
8 teams - 8 Weeks of matches, every team plays every team once, Top 4 advance to brackets

6. Should we allow team leaders, or other team players to spectate?
Would be nice to have people be able to watch their teammates play, especially the platinum players who are in essence, coaching the lower league players. But I don't want stream cheating. So maybe we allow 1 Platinum player to watch?

7. What about streaming?
I don't mind streaming... but again, I would prefer to not have stream cheaters. Not saying people are dishonest, just trying to keep the league fair. What do you all think?

ALSO, if you are interested in being an admin, or casting games. Let me know. No games will be casted live, we'll take the best 2 matches from each week and cast them. Depending on if I can get a decent caster... I can't cast, I'm terrible at it.

Any other discussion, questions or comments, please reply. This is a league for the players, to have fun and enjoy the game without feeling like you have to be Grand Master to compete in a league.

How will you handle smurfs? What can be done to assure people are at the skill level they claim they are?

I competed in the first one. Where it was a great idea, it was poorly done but you outlined all the areas of improvement.

1. Random sign up with a draft would be appropriate since it encourages people to met others of different skill levels. Giving teams the ability to trade players throughout the season would keep the teams active throughout the season

2. Each team should have a minimum of 2 from each division and only 1 of each division should play a week.

3. It should be a Bo9 format since theres 4 players each team. If a division is unavailable, then that game is a forfeit and next game played as per usual.

4. Prize could as simple as coaching. There's is plenty of mid-high level teams that could be found if needed.

5. Sounds goods

6. A leader from each team, Neutral Casters and Admin

7. Streaming should be available but should come from a Neutral source and a delay on the stream if possible

Also Z33k has expand to allow for leagues to be setup, this will take out some of the management for running such a league. Any further questions just ask.
