Teamliquid! I call upon you for help!
So my girlfriend's computer just died and i'm looking to get her a new one. The only problem is i'm not very tech savy. Getting confused is beyond what i am. All i'm looking for is a decently fast computer so she can browse the internet, and type papers on for college. Sometimes she plays facebook games. Other than that, there's not much else she uses a computer for. My budget is about nothing more than 600 USD. Thanks ! |

| Lenovo thinkpad Edge E430/530 if she doesn't want anything stylish. Alternatively, Dell Inspiron 14z/13z could be nice because they look kind of nice. Or the ideapad U410/310 if they're on sale for cheap enough. Nothing she does would be intense enough to really need too much power though, so an ultrabook (albeit a cheap one, or a lookalike) would be fine. Last edit: 2012-08-20 04:48:40 |

Based on what lol? Dell has fantastic customer support, and they make pretty decent products. My advice would be the exact opposite, although that doesn't make Dell the best. Don't give subjective advice with no real facts based on personal experience. I know for a fact dell has some of the best customer service in the business.
Lenovo U310 for 640$ if she wants something stylish (or more so).
Edge E430 if she doesn't want/need something thin or anything ridiculous. |

It's second generation sandy bridge, and imo not as nice looking (edge seem very slick to me) but definitely cheaper and more than enough for your girlfriend's needs. |

if the u310 is anything like the u300, i would not buy it. QC on those machines are not good from what i've seen. |

Huh. Never owned one, so that might be worth thinking about. The other options are much cheaper anyways. |

Yes, exactly. There's no way you need the extra compute power from an ivy bridge if you're just browsing the web and playing farmville.
Was a much easier sell at <$400 though. |
